"All of the Radon Be Gone staff I dealt with were very professional. They designed the system so it vents in a back corner of the house and is barely visible. The staff delivered the external vent pipes several days in advance of the installation so I could paint them to match the exterior of my home. They were timely, polite and very competent at their work. The radon readings in my home were reduced to a very low and safe level."

"Radon Pros maintained constant communication about when they would come to our residence. They were honest and clear about what they were going to do. They didn't try to take advantage of us. They were very courteous in every way."

"Quick to respond to scheduling an estimate and completing the job within a week of that. I had very high radon levels that were brought down below 2 pCi/L. Very pleased with the result. Russ was my installer and did a good job and left everything neat and clean. Only negative was the estimator did not plan very well for how a pipe would be routed from the crawl space to the rest of the system since the location of my electric box and hot water heater were obstacles he did not consider. Fortunately it wasnâ t necessary to vent the crawl space and my cost was reduced accordingly. Very good company, would recommend them."

"Absolutely professional. Tyler came out exactly on time. His co worker/partner set everything up and explained the process and worked with our schedule. Pricing was VERY affordable and for a job done exceptionally well and clean. I reccomend getting the levels tested in your basement as over time this can be detrimental to ones health. If we have any issues in the future, I will be using Ohio Radon Specialists for all of our mitigation needs."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

Radon is the number one non-smoking cause of lung cancer in the United States, but it can cause some other concerning side effects in the meantime. If you have a raspy voice, chest pains, trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing, or any of the above, don’t hesitate to perform radon testing and install a mitigation system as soon as possible.

Radon enters your home when warm air begins to rise and exits through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls cooler air from under the foundation. Part of that air is radon, which is an invisible, odorless gas that develops naturally when radioactive particles are deep within the ground. Those particles usually come from decaying matter in soil and rocks.

Testing every 2-5 years or upon adjusting occupancy or structural changes maintains safe environments.
