"Jesse and Andrew were absolute professionals through the whole process. After an offer fell through on my house due to high radon levels, I was anxious to address the problem as quickly as possible. Jesse was able to work with my timeline, and made sure all of my questions were answered. My house is old and I was worried that regular mitigation methods might not adequately reduce our levels (a fear reinforced by another contractor's assessment). Jesse and Andrew assured me that they would do everything possible to reduce the levels, and guaranteed the results. Boy, did they deliver. Our very high levels were reduced to practically nothing. Jesse and Andrew were calm and confident through the entire process, which is exactly what I needed. A+ rating all around."

"MaGen did an amazing job testing and abating our radon issue, which we weren't even aware of. Maryan's process was easy to follow, he performed work that was even beyond the agreed process (like making necessary fixes to our crawl space), and ensured that the radon system was working well. We went from having the meter read over 10 (pre-work) to under 1. If you're looking for someone that can handle your radon needs, get MaGen to do it ASAP!"

"To the folks at Radon Be Gone and potential customers, Lengthy-but hopefully insightful Recently I learned that radon was present in my house and the intelligent thing to do is to have it mitigated. This occurred at the onset of the pandemic and the Governor's briefings and closures. I had read plenty of positive reviews about Radon Be Gone and they came personally recommended from a couple people I trust. At the time Radon Be Gone was not operating until they felt they had a great grasp of safety protocols for their staff and customers. I did have a few other companies come out, take a look, and provide a quote but my gut told me to wait if possible for Radon Be Gone to be operational. I spoke to Portia several times and she was very knowledgeable, reassuring, and answered a lot of questions I had, now that I had some time to learn about the gas itself and how companies mitigate it. Brad came out and did an honest assessment and again answered a host of questions. Due to previous reviews, their treatment of me, and the similar price to other companies, I chose Radon Be Gone. I was a bit nervous because I had finished the basement a couple years prior. For anyone that plans to finish their basement, check for Radon first. You have less options once you finish it. The day the job was to be completed, the vehicles were in my drive a few minutes early, which I liked. The guys: Larry, Walker and Ian were all very cooperative and professional. I was able to watch and learn without feeling like I was snooping. The holes in my side brick and facial wall and the foundation were precision. We couldn't have picked a better spot for the system. It is unobtrusive in the utility room and is not visible from the sides of the house that matter. They explained the system and how it works and some small other need to know items. They caulked all the exterior hardware and sealed and cleaned everything. For those of you that may be concerned about their Covid safety protocols- I was very comfortable with how they operated. Post installation of the equipment, they retested the Radon Levels in my house and I was not only under the accepted level, but significantly under. The report of the test and other details were provided in a very timely manner. As a matter of fact the gentleman, forgot his name, (sorry) text me the results immediately. I know this is probably a lengthy post, but hope it provides useful insight and my recommendation of using Radon Be Gone if you need to have Radon Mitigation."

"Quick install, easily mitigated the issue. Non-invasive install, cannot even tell it is in the basement, also ran the exterior piping along the downspout. 5 stars, could not recommend Tom enough if you need radon mitigation."

"Absolutely professional. Tyler came out exactly on time. His co worker/partner set everything up and explained the process and worked with our schedule. Pricing was VERY affordable and for a job done exceptionally well and clean. I reccomend getting the levels tested in your basement as over time this can be detrimental to ones health. If we have any issues in the future, I will be using Ohio Radon Specialists for all of our mitigation needs."

"Phillip and his partner were knowledgeable, decisive and straightforward about what they could do to ameliorate the water damage. They took a very reasonable and least invasive approach that solved the problem both immediately and long term. They answered my questions by providing me with choices. After any storm, the market is flooded with people needing this service, which causes stress. I was never in doubt that the work was going to get done, but needed to be patient as they dealt with all of their other customers."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

Many radon fans carry a five-year manufacturer's warranty. That said, your radon fan should last between five and ten years. Regular inspections will ensure the fan is operating properly. Unusual or exceptional noise coming from the fan or indications on your manometer or system monitor can immediately tell you that something is amiss.

Radon enters your home when warm air begins to rise and exits through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls cooler air from under the foundation. Part of that air is radon, which is an invisible, odorless gas that develops naturally when radioactive particles are deep within the ground. Those particles usually come from decaying matter in soil and rocks.

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.

You'll need to test your home for radon after installing the mitigation system, then again every two years. If radon remains elevated, contact a licensed radon professional, either the contractor who installed the system or a different one, and have them evaluate the system. They may need to make some changes to improve its effectiveness and performance.
