Customers say: Quality work

"Rusian rebuilt my chimney on the roof. He came out the same day to give me an estimate. The replacement bricks looked exactly the same as the ones he replaced. He did a wonderful job and his price was very reasonable. If I have any other brick work or tuck-pointing work, I would definitely use him again."

"Went great. We asked for some changes to patio shape and Dan did just as we asked. He used wall pavers that he removed from previous retaining walls to repair and add to a retaining wall behind the garage. The patio travertine is gorgeous and the granite edging was well done. His work was done well, quickly and neatly. Repairs were made to lawn from heavy equipment used and it came in beautifully. He gave us great instructions which we followed 😀. He included plans for an adjacent deck which we will be using in the spring. He and his crew worked really hard. Thanks, Dan!"

"Excellent! Dan and his crew did great work in each phase of the project. Dan came up with a very creative design that fit the space wonderfully, then he & his crew installed a flat sandstone patio & walkway that perfectly compliments the sandstone block foundation of our century home."

"Review: Nick and his crew were totally professional. Nick always kept in touch so we knew when he was going to be able to prepare our patio and when they would be able to pour the concrete. We were so pleased that he could fit us in on our tight schedule. We actually had another quote that would have been lower priced but decided to go with Marrco Concrete for both their quality work and on-time performance. We are so glad we did! Our new patio and the sidewalk that wraps around the garage are the perfect addition to our new home. It was well worth the money and we can't wait to have outdoor picnics on it."

"Our contractor referred us to Virtuoso Landscaping. Their prices are realistic for what we were needing. They quoted that the whole process would take 4-5 depending on rain. They got it done in two days- tearing everything out on the first day, and started & completed the landscaping on the second day!!! They are very friendly, respond quickly, and very hard workers!!!! We would 100% recommend them & we would use them again!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Drilling into brick or mortar requires the use of a masonry drill bit. Masonry drill bits appear similar to standard drill bits except for the leading tip of the bit. The tip has a bulky carbide arrow-shaped end slightly larger than the rest of the bit shaft. Standard or high-speed drill bits designed for making holes in wood or metal don’t have the ruggedness or design shape you need to drill into brick. They may not go through the brick at all, and if they do, they’re more likely to overheat, crack, or dull before you finish drilling.

Yes, brick should be clean before staining to ensure the best results. Dirt, dust, mold, mildew, and other substances on the brick can prevent the stain from properly adhering to it. Thoroughly cleaning the brick allows the stain to penetrate and bond to the surface more effectively. Cleaning typically involves using a pressure washer or a stiff brush with mild detergent. However, stubborn residue may require a specialized masonry cleaner.

You can use adhesive strips to hang lights on brick—just make sure you get outdoor mounting tape and not just any old double-sided tape for your project.

Mortar is a mixture of sand and cement that binds materials, such as bricks, stones, and concrete blocks, together. Think of it as the glue that fills in the gaps between bricks and stones, then seals them in place to prevent damage or deterioration. Mortar also helps spread the load across a wall or structure, keeping cracks and shifting at bay.

Brick can increase the value of your home depending on the type of masonry materials used. Homes generally have a higher resale value when they have brick siding, and brick is also easier to maintain (and lasts longer) than other types of siding, which can motivate buyers to make an offer.

Just keep in mind, however, that although brick can up the asking price when you sell your house, the cost to brick a house is also more expensive than other typical siding costs—so you’ll invest more in the project.
