"Punctional and professional. My driveway is slightly larger than 5,000sf. They were here on time and friendly. I have to say this was the most professional job I have seen anyone do. Quality workmanship to sealing the edges. 1 year later I seen some cracks and I did freak out. The owner was very responsive and came right out. He calmed me down and explained how asphalt moves and small cracks donshow up but most important thing is to get them seals before winter. We scheduled an appointment to seal my driveway at an unbelievable price. Again on time and did a professional job which included the counting to be put on by hand and not sprayed. Very cautious not to make a mess even on grass. So impressed. HIGHLY recommended. Also Jason being the middleman personally came out before the seal coat and patched up the small cracks at no charge. How many companies do you think would do this? Again highly impressed."

"I would HIGHLY recommend Hegedus Hardscape for ANY paver project you have. We had a 15+ year old paver walkway and and patio that had gradually sunk, creating 2-3 inches of water in several areas when it rained due to poor original installation. Sandor Hegedus came and explained the problem thoroughly and recommended the appropriate way to correct our situation. We watched every step of their process and are EXTREMELY impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. They are a family owned and run company that truly cares about their work. Their cleanup was amazing. We undoubtedly will never have to worry about our pavers again! Thank you Sandor, Viola and family... you all should be PROUD!"

"Dan did an excellent job on our backyard patio design. He was easy to work with during the design process and really listened to what we wanted. He did a great job communicating with us during every step of the installation process. We will be contacting him for future projects we might have!"

I enjoy the entire process; from design, installation, and the finishing touches of new outdoor living spaces. I worked in this field most of my life, since I was born and raised in Europe where I worked with stone, masonry and pavers frequently. After I moved to America, I decided to pursue a career in hardscaping. I have now worked in this industry for many years and I will continue to provide quality workmanship. Customers say: Quality work

"Rusian rebuilt my chimney on the roof. He came out the same day to give me an estimate. The replacement bricks looked exactly the same as the ones he replaced. He did a wonderful job and his price was very reasonable. If I have any other brick work or tuck-pointing work, I would definitely use him again."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

If you wish to break up a cracked or broken paver for removal, you can use a hammer or mallet and a chisel to fragment the paver. As you’re working, be careful not to disturb surrounding pavers; the key is to work slowly and steadily and remove the broken pieces gently. You should also wear a mask and goggles to ensure that no dust gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth as you work.

Driveway pavers are often worth the cost. Paver types like cobblestone, brick, and concrete are highly durable, and permeable paver options can be tremendously eco-friendly. While you may pay more for a paver driveway, you’ll see great returns from the increased curb appeal and low maintenance compared to other types of driveways.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

It is possible to DIY complete hardscaping projects, but in most cases, hiring a professional is best to get the job done correctly. Hardscaping—including installing patios, decks, retaining walls, walkways, and water features—is challenging and time-consuming, so the money you spend on a professional is typically worth it. Not only will the quality be better, but you could avoid problems that come along with a lack of hardscaping experience, like drainage issues that can lead to costly foundation damage and leaks in your home.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.
