"Very smooth install. Ed was nice, personable, and timely. He installed the solar lights efficiently and correctly. And they function perfectly. Fee was very reasonable as well. He’s agreed to install similar lights next weekend at our daughter’s home located about 10 minutes away. We’re in the market for a new handyman, so would not hesitate to contact Ed again. Thank you."

"Tommy is the best! Christmas Day my finished basement had particles of food and water on the carpet! The next morning I called Tommy, not only was he responsive but also sympathetic. He rearranged his schedule and came out that morning. He cleared the clog and also taught be a lot about what shouldn't go down a garbage disposal. I highly recommend him!!"

"It took a few phone calls to get to speak to Lori (she was at lunch when I was calling), but once I got her on the phone, I was very pleased. She was helpful in explaining how they priced their work and answering my questions, much more so than anyone else I called. She promptly set up an appointment for a time convenient for us. The repair person was on time and did the work promptly. On the first visit he was only able to install the garbage disposal, kitchen faucet, and ice maker, as the other repairs required parts he didn't have with him. They said that they'd call for a follow up appointment once they had pricing for the parts needed. They didn't call back, so I had to call them on Friday of the next week. Lori said that the parts were in and wanted to schedule an appointment. My husband was annoyed that they didn't call with the prices, but I figured we had to have the work done anyway. It would have been nice if they had called me, though, instead of my having to follow up with them. A different plumber came for the second appointment. He was early, which was nice. Unfortunately, as he wasn't the one who did the initial assessment, he had to leave to get different parts than what he was told to bring. That was a bit annoying because I ended up paying for the time he spent driving back and forth, when I thought he should've come with everything he needed. In the end, everyone we dealt with was courteous, pleasant and the plumbers did great work. I would definitely use this company again. Lori was very responsive to my questions, and flexible with appointment scheduling. She even corrected a billing error before processing my credit card (saving me from being overcharged)."

"Joe answered the phone on a Sunday afternoon and set the appointment for the next day.  He was punctual and went straight to work.  The replacement of the faucet, garbage disposal and sink went well without any hiccups.  He also found a link in the main drain and  repaired it.  We purchased a "big deal" and he completed the work in the time within the time frame.  We would definitely use Joe again for our plumbing needs!

"It was great. He was early! - with warning. Friendly and professional. He reset the garbage disposal with an allen wrench - he even gave me one! He said it was a lower level model and said I should think about replacing but with no pressure. He gave me an estimate if I decided to replace in the future."

"

Mr. Stephens was on time and very very polite and courteous.

Mr. Stephens and his associate, moved within the house very professionally to bring in the materials they needed to remove the old sump pump and to install the new one. Then they did a great job in cleaning up. Also Mr. Stephens took time to explain and to demonstrate the new battery backup sump pump answering all my questions and concerns.

Also he helped repair the pipes for the sink and washer and then installed a new shower head.

He was so professional and friendly that he will be the plumber for this house for as long as I live here

He is wonderful.

"We call them every time we have a plumbing issue. They are pretty much our regular plumbers. If the garbage disposal doesn?t work or for any other issue, we have them help us out. I actually called them for a quote 2-3 years ago, and they honored that quote. They were amazing. They showed up when they were supposed to. They left some spots on my carpet."

"I had attempted to remove the old faucet and had reached a point where I did not have the tools necessary to complete the task. Provider cut off rusted pipe and installed new faucet I provided. Explained process. Cleaned up after service. Honored Angie's List offer. Only additional cost was for replacement shut-off valves needed due to the type of faucet I had selected and even that was quite reasonable. Great service. I will use this provider for other work I require.

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

If the cost of repairing a leaking garbage disposal is close to the cost of replacing the disposal, then fixing the unit might not make sense. When deciding if you should repair or replace your garbage disposal, consider the age of your garbage disposal, the cost of the repair, and whether your garbage disposal has had other problems recently to help you decide if the cost of repairing the leak is better than the cost of replacing the disposal.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.
