"Pullin's did a fantastic job on the overlay of my driveway. They took an old, shabby, cracked and broken driveway and made it look new again. They arrived on time and did the work in a professional, quick and efficient manner. I would highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again."

Customers say: True professional

"We love the walkway that was installed! It is functional AND beautiful. Southern Grove Landscaping is a small operation, so we had to wait for a couple of months to begin the job. Once the job was initiated, it only took a few days to complete. When they left, only about 3 inches on either side of the walk was affected, and they finished that with soil and grass seed. They originally planned to use digging equipment to prepare the job, but later determined it was not possible to get the equipment in our small entry gate. They respectfully prepared the job by hand, without charging us extra. We could not be happier with the quality of work. The quote was similar to others, and they came out to discuss options with us before sending a quote."

"I called David Bratka to quote removing the weeds and overgrowth that had grown chest high in the wooded section that makes up 50% of our suburban yard. We had tried repeatedly to tackle the job as a DIY without success and it was unsightly and unusable. After looking at the project and talking to us about how we might use the area, David proposed we consider turning the area into a park-like setting with plantings, a dry stream bed and a large seating area which would include our fire pit. He helped us to see what we had consoldered a liability as an asset. The landscaping team lead by Josh was polite, friendly, neat, hardworking, professional and knowledgeable. As they cleared the brush, they preserved "volunteer" trees and existing ground cover that fit the new landscape. They were willing to make adjustments per our request as the project progressed. David was on site often and answered whatever questions I had. They transformed our property and finished ahead of schedule. What was once a horrible mess is now a gorgeous, functional area that adds to our property value. We are absolutely thrilled! I highly recommend Landscapes by Terra."

"Great company! The work was done on schedule. Everyone was very nice, courteous and professional. I was totally satisfied with their work and would definitely call them again. They had paved my daughter’s long driveway last summer and their work was perfection."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

An asphalt overlay or top coat costs between $3 and $7 per square foot. For a standard, single-car driveway that’s 10 feet wide and 20 feet long, that’s a total of between $600 and $1,400. For a two-car driveway, you’re looking at a total of between $1,200 and $3,000.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.

Cobblestone is just one of many driveway materials. Other, more economical, albeit less elaborate options include concrete, asphalt, and gravel.

If you want a material that most closely resembles cobblestone, your best option is bricks or pavers. Both cost anywhere from $10 to $50 per square foot and can be laid in all kinds of patterns. Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.
