"Very smooth install. Ed was nice, personable, and timely. He installed the solar lights efficiently and correctly. And they function perfectly. Fee was very reasonable as well. He’s agreed to install similar lights next weekend at our daughter’s home located about 10 minutes away. We’re in the market for a new handyman, so would not hesitate to contact Ed again. Thank you."

"I was impressed with the way things were explained i.e. what to not put in the garbage disposal and the assurance that any problems would be fixed. Installation went ell and was professional."

"Joe answered the phone on a Sunday afternoon and set the appointment for the next day.  He was punctual and went straight to work.  The replacement of the faucet, garbage disposal and sink went well without any hiccups.  He also found a link in the main drain and  repaired it.  We purchased a "big deal" and he completed the work in the time within the time frame.  We would definitely use Joe again for our plumbing needs!

"They were very professional. They came out and tried to snake my kitchen sink. They weren't able to do so and said they needed to install new drain pipe. They quoted me with one days work and ~1k. They were a second opinion because Benjamin Franklin tried to charge me 3k! They were beyond friendly and helpful and listened to my concerns. The drain pipe was installed within a day!! I will call this company for all of my drain issues from now on!!"

"I returned from a two-week vacation to find the top floor of my condo flooded and damage to the ceiling on the floor below.  There was no obvious source of the leak.  I called other plumbers, but Clive Stephens was the only one who was able to come out that day and help me. I'm not in his usual service area, but when I told him a previous customer recommended him, and the plumber he referred me to couldn't fit me in for 5 days, he was able to come out that evening.  He found the leak (a cracked toilet tank) and isolated it so I could have water in the rest of the house.  Mr. Stephens was courteous and professional. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs plumbing services. We made arrangements for him to return and replace the toilet as well the garbage disposal in my kitchen that was not working.  Unfortunately, he suffers from cat allergies and will not be able to return.

"We call them every time we have a plumbing issue. They are pretty much our regular plumbers. If the garbage disposal doesn?t work or for any other issue, we have them help us out. I actually called them for a quote 2-3 years ago, and they honored that quote. They were amazing. They showed up when they were supposed to. They left some spots on my carpet."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.
