"The job went very well. Rick first tested for mold in the basement and, in two other parts of the house. Test results came back in about a week. We then set up a time for the work to be done. One of the things I appreciated most, was that Rick was very responsive to emails and phone calls. Punctuality was superior, calling even when he was going to be about 5-10 minutes late. Rick was very professional and knowledgeable. We had an excellent experience with Dutch's Mold Inspections."

"Paul was amazing! He did an extremely thorough job- he didn't miss a single thing! He was very friendly to deal with and answered all of my questions. He really took the time to explain every step of the process and made me feel like my home inspection was the only thing that mattered. I highly recommend his services."

"This was by far the best experience we could have asked for. Our AC wasn’t acting properly, and as usual when something isn’t working it happens at the worst time (middle of summer). Our AC unit was outside of warranty and it was time for a new one. We looked around, were given long wait times and high prices from several other companies. MAP construction made time to fit us in for an initial inspection, detailed everything they would and could do to help the situation, and were extremely reasonably priced. They were on time when coming to start work, updated us on progress throughout the day, and the final bill was even a little under the initial price!! The in home technicians were respectful of our home, clean and very polite, professional, prompt and courteous. The owner, Matt, has even checked up on us to see if everything is to our satisfaction. This is a top notch company, and we will be using them again for any future projects."

"We had some questions about mold in our home after a home inspector found some areas of concern. Gil came out within a day of me calling for an appointment, examined the areas, and educated me on our options. He and his associate were professional, and explained things in layman s terms so that I could understand what we are dealing with. They were honest, not pushy, and alleviated my anxiety by answering my questions. Gil explained that our problem was not that bad, and there were simple things we could do ourselves to rectify the problem. I would absolutely recommend Air Guard restoration to my family and friends, and they will be our first call if we ever have any problems in the future."

We went with the Alside Ascend Composite siding for our large 2 story home with white vertical board & batten on the gables & front pop out & white 7” siding for the entire house & garage, black trim & gutters. "Absolutely easy to work with, we had great communication throughout the project being completed. Took extra time due to myself wanting a special ordered trench drain to be used in front of the garage. We liked that they came out for a final inspection of the work that had been done and to see if we were happy with it before final payment to be made. We would hire again if needed. Good job installing the new house downspout drain pipe and trench drain."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

The cost of a home inspection varies depending on several factors. On average, you can expect to pay between $280 and $400, with a typical cost around $350. However, the full price range can be anywhere from approximately $187 to $510. The final cost is influenced by the home's size, age, condition, and location, as well as the inspector's experience and the depth of the inspection. Larger homes (e.g., over 2,000 square feet) and older homes typically cost more to inspect, as they may require checking for issues like structural deterioration or asbestos. The price may also increase if you need specialized services, such as asbestos testing, thermal imaging to detect infestations, or detailed checks for energy efficiency, structural integrity, or electrical problems. In most cases, the buyer pays for the home inspection. While it is an upfront cost, a thorough inspection can save you thousands of dollars in unexpected repairs.

The telltale signs that your home is ready for repointing include visibly damaged bricks, crumbling bricks, flaking bricks, loose mortar, cracked mortar, gaps between brick and mortar, leaking inside your home, and visible water damage. Consider repointing when going over brick house pros and cons if you're buying a new home. Repointing is also a good idea if you plan to paint, acid wash, or stain your brick home, as it will give you a good base for coloration and prevent repairs after the work is done.

The best way to check if a roofing company is legit is by asking the roofer for their license number. They should have no issue providing you with this information if they’re legitimate. You can also look to see if they have an online presence, read reviews, and ask contractors you’ve worked with before if they know the roofing company.

The three main types of home inspections you should always carry out for new construction include a pre-drywall inspection, a post-drywall inspection, and a one-year inspection. The pre-drywall inspection can identify building code violations, issues with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC components, and structural issues. The post-drywall inspection can identify damaged building materials, insufficient insulation, and more. An inspection at the one-year mark after construction will identify problems your builder must fix under their comprehensive one-year warranty.

Home inspectors only check swimming pools if they have expertise in that area. During a standard home inspection, they focus on the house’s structure, roof, foundation, electrical, plumbing, and other components. If they examine your pool, they’ll check the pump and heater. If you want a thorough pool inspection, hire a pool inspection specialist.
