"Use DEFENDER GLASS BLOCK, you will not be disappointed in any way! SPECIFIC FACTORS WHY: 1. Answers and returns calls/text right away. 2. Owners Zach – dark haired and Luke – wearing hat (pictures attached) extremely professional, great personalities and honest business practices. 3. Very reasonably priced. 4. Measure and installation within days. 5. No extra work, unless discussed with customer prior. 6. Leave work area clean and installation took about an hour for two windows. When I called Zach (pictures included) answered on the second ring. Was out the same day to measure, and by Saturday, Zach and Luke had two glass block basement windows installed. We will use DEFENDER GLASS BLOCK for all our glass block needs. Highly Recommended!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"I had two leaded glass built-in cabinet doors that needed repair. The doors are close to the ground and kids had broken different panes over the years. Jim was very easy to work with. I was able to drop off and pickup the doors after hours. The quality of the repairs was excellent. I highly recommend contacting them for leaded or stained glass repair work."

"Queen City Glass block replaced our two pane glass basement windows with vented glass block windows. Every interaction during installation was warm and professional. The basement is now more secure, and will have cross ventilation.

"JFK provided helpful advice on choosing kind of windows and type of glass, etc. This company was not inexpensive, but we think it was very good quality. Work was done in a timely way and they did not make a mess. We are very happy with our new windows."

"The best thing about Dadstasks is how easy they are to work with.   Darryll came out on time and was very friendly and gave me three separate estimates on each job I wanted done.  Kelly was very good about getting me the estimates on time and answering all my questions as well as getting me copies of their liability insurance and worker's comp.  Upon accepting their estimates, the jobs were scheduled within days of said acceptance.  On both days of work the workers were on time, kept to the jobs at hand, and finished on time.  Joe did an excellent job on repairing, pointing, and tucking the cement blocks while Dave and Jason made some very worn doors and windows look respectable again.  It was nice to have a one stop shop for such a variety of jobs to be done, all were very pleasant to work with, and I would certainly use Dadstasks again."

Glass Block FAQs, answered by experts

Glass block windows come in various patterns and styles that offer privacy and unique aesthetics. Frosted or textured glass diffuses light and enhances privacy. Wave-pattern glass blocks imitate ocean waves with flowing lines. Ice-glass blocks resemble cracked ice. Fluted glass blocks feature parallel vertical grooves, adding texture and depth. Clear glass blocks, similar to glass Coke bottles, offer transparency with some distortion and may have smooth surfaces or subtle textures, adding visual interest.

Yes, many professionals provide custom-cut glass replacements for enclosures that require precise sizing.

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.
