"The work was done 100% to request. They were timely, on budget and overly concerned about how we felt every step of the way. Immediate responses and on the spot problem solving. After the job was completed there was additional follow up and Brian and his team even came back to do touch ups from the counter installation another vendor installed. They were amazing and we will be using them again!"

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

The cost of cabinet installation is influenced by several factors, including the material and type of cabinets, the level of customization, labor rates, and any additional features such as soft-close mechanisms or hardware upgrades.

The Janka Hardness Scale rates wood species according to their hardness levels or density. On the scale, hickory ranks as the most dense hardwood that is common for use in making cabinets. While there are woods that are harder, they're uncommon in cabinetry. Maple, oak, and walnut also rank relatively high on the scale and are excellent for use in cabinetry.

Solid wood is the most common material for cabinet bases. It’s a popular choice because it’s durable and will hold up over time. Oak, maple, cherry, hickory, and pine are all types of solid wood that can be used to build cabinet bases. Other options include plywood, medium-density fiberboard, and other types of manufactured lumber, but they need to be sealed properly to avoid swelling, separating, and delamination from moisture.

You aren’t obligated to tip cabinet contractors, but you can choose to do so if they went above and beyond and you want to show your gratitude. This is usually something in the ballpark of 10% to 15% of your total cost. As an alternative, you can provide snacks and drinks for workers and/or offer to serve as a reference for prospective customers.

Yes, most installations include warranties for materials and labor. Confirm details with your contractor.
