"Our large church / school facility required insulation upgrades due to high utility costs and severe gutter icing. We chose Installed Services due to their favorable bid, ability to provide knowledgeable explanation of our insulation issues, and responsiveness to questions / communications. Work was completed in a timely manner. We would likely hire them again if we need further services in the future."

"We scheduled them for a particular week months in advance as the project was on a tight timeline. They could not start until after the demo upstairs and had to be done before HVAC installers showed up. Everything was completed on-time and the price paid was as quoted despite having to make a few changes to the plan once the walls were opened. Fantastic company. They want to do a good job and it shows. We were concerned about residual odors from spray foam but there are none. Most importantly the house retains heat with way less fuel burned! We heat primarily with wood and used to have temps drop >20 degrees from the moment we loaded up the stove before bed until waking. Seriously, the fire would burn for hours with the house at 75 degrees after we got in bed, but when we woke, it was 53 inside the house. Now with similar outside temps we don't bother to load up the stove before bed and we wake up it is maybe 8 degrees cooler. I love a morning in the mid-60s compared to the low-50s INSIDE my house in the winter. If you are going to retrofit your house with spray foam insulation, it is a huge and messy job, so be prepared for that. There are little bits of spray foam you have to clean up later, in the driveway, yard, house. You have to live somewhere else for at least 24 hours, but we stayed away almost a week while odors decreased. We had one issue where the AirKrete leaked through the inside of the house wall in 3 location and was not noticed by the crew. We came home to see the job they did and found globs of hardened foam hanging down the walls in these locations. I called Torsten and he reported this had not happened before, most houses don't have holes in walls on the inside, and had they seen it they would have cleaned it up. He came on site and helped me clean it up and apologized, which went a long way with me."

"The gentleman who called on me seemed more interested in further selling insulation than evaluating the advertised '$99 for Attic Inspection of Insulation, Ventilation, Exhaust Fan, Rodent Activity, Water Damage and More + Report!' For starters, I have blown-in insulation and he came to my house wearing dress shoes and then walking briefly in my attic with nothing covering his shoes. The information he provided was not very useful to me.  Looked more like a set-up for more sales rather than a thorough analysis."

"Thinking I had an insulation issue because icicles were forming on on gutter, I got estimates from 3 companies. Ray Sabin, PM at NRG stated that my issue was the gutter not insulation. Ray is an honest vendor that will not sell you unnecessary services and products."

"The company was very supportive and accommodating. They took their time during the initial visit to review our attic before supplying a competitive quote which we accepted. They stuck by the quote during the completion of the job even though part of the attic required some additional insulation. Both Jose and Sergio were extremely thorough and professional. I will definitely recommend them to others without hesitation."

"We've used Jaime about 10 times. . . . .we don't feel there is anyone else worth calling in the area, can do it all. Ran new electrical box to wall and installed electric fireplace in our finished basement side. Jaime had to get creative as the wall was discovered to be solid and not regular drywall. But he does it like it's nothing. Thanks again."

"The service went well. They were running late, and they called and told me they were running a late. They asked if they could arrive a half hour late. I said yes, and they did so. They removed and disposed of the insulation. They also cleaned the mold from the wood and walls. And they set off an air based mold killing product too kill anything they could not see or reach. So far, so good."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

To maintain your insulation service upgrades in Ashtabula, keep vapor barrier repair tape and humidity monitors on hand. Heavy lake-effect moisture makes monitoring crawlspaces essential. You also need high-quality caulking and foam sealants to fix cracks caused by our intense freeze-thaw cycles. Keep these supplies ready to seal gaps around rim joists and attic bypasses before moisture damages your home.

Helpful?

Older Ashtabula homes feature balloon-frame construction with continuous wall cavities from the foundation to the roof, making insulation service complex. Inspect your basement for irregular fieldstone foundations, which make continuous vapor barriers difficult to install. You must also check for active knob-and-tube wiring, as covering this with insulation creates an extreme fire hazard. Complex attic geometries with multiple roof lines require specialized approaches.

Helpful?

A major mistake during insulation service projects is ignoring OH Climate Zone 5 requirements, which mandate high R-values like R-49 for attics. Homeowners frequently blow in attic insulation while blocking soffit vents, creating severe ice dam hazards. Another critical error involves skipping air sealing before adding insulation. Always seal wall top plates and rim joists first to stop pervasive air leaks in older homes.

Helpful?

Reject any quote that proposes attic R-values below the OH minimum of R-49. Local professionals must include dedicated air sealing work around rim joists and attic bypasses. Watch out for contractors who skip pre-project moisture assessments in your crawlspace or basement. Installing new materials over existing dampness guarantees rapid mold growth. A reliable insulation service quote always addresses soffit and ridge ventilation adequacy.

Helpful?

Watch for ice dams forming at your roof eaves, as this directly indicates failing attic insulation. In Ashtabula, frost or condensation on interior walls during winter means your cavity insulation has settled or deteriorated. You should also inspect for visible mold in crawlspaces and drafts near basement ceilings. If you notice unusually high heating bills, your previous insulation service work requires an update.
