"Gene was a very sweet man. He showed up when he said he would and completed wiring our screen porch for a fan, installed the fan, and also replaced a screen door. His work is exceptional. However I was most impressed that he did what he said he was going to do. I have had way too many bad experiences of contractors not showing up after the estimate. Thank you Gene!"

"Brian and his father cleaned two carpets and our living room furniture and did a phenomenal job. We have four dogs so as you can imagine the cleaning was needed! They took their time and made sure everything looked good as new (I almost forgot how light my sofa was!) and that smells were eradicated. Brian is professional, friendly and does high quality work. I will definitely hire him again! (And I learned that he and his father also do grout and tile cleaning and repair!)"

"Project was to rebuild an open-air shingled roof that had deteriorated over time that covered a patio. The primary purpose of this roof was to keep water off the patio and away from the house as well as allowing usage of the patio in foul weather. The roof had extended over the semi-attached flat roof garage enough so that any water that went over the edge on that side, landed on the garage roof, past the curved tile of the parapet wall of the garage. Remediation of the structure required replacing the supporting 4x4 columns and header they supported to a double 2x8 header. This along with other aspects of the job was done very well. However, Quality Q rebuilt the roof shorter than the original by 6” so now, water that runs off the edge on the garage side falls on the curved tile of the parapet wall of the garage and drips down onto the patio. This dripping occurs along the entire length of the wall of the garage including over the doorway leading into the garage. I contacted Quality Q several times about this via text message. After the first message, Quality Q came to look at the issue and we both agreed that a simple piece of trim would redirect the water onto the garage roof solving the problem. Quality Q promised to come back and take care of it shortly. Unfortunately, this never happened. A text a short time later was met with “been busy, will get there” but again nothing came of it. An email from Angies List several months later reminded me that this issue was never resolved. I again contacted Quality Q via text message, and they were a bit arrogant about the issue forcing me to remind them that they had already reviewed the issue and agreed that a fix was possible and would take care of it. Quality Q blamed me for not allowing them to alter the roof design and close this area that provided air circulation. I reminded them that this opening had always been there and never caused any issue until now, after the roof was shortened. They have never returned to remedy this issue."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all best tile for a dog shower. Consider your budget, tile durability, aesthetics, and, most importantly, practicality. Avoid tiles your dog will slide around on. Pebbles are a great non-slip option, but are pricey and tricky to install. Glass might look modern, but it’s not scratch-resistant. Small, floor-rated ceramic or porcelain tiles are economical and have many grout lines that make the surface more slip-resistant. Pick a matte finish rather than a shiny tile if you want it to hide stray mud and hairs better.

Options include clay, concrete, and slate tiles. Each offers unique durability, aesthetics, and costs.
