"I hired Do It Right Plumbing for the first time today. They arrived promptly, early even and were very down to earth, knowledgable and their price was reasonable. I felt comfortable having them in my home and would hire these pros again any day. Thanks Dylan and Steve. My toilet works again!"

"My wife and I hired Joe to redo our kitchen including electrical, countertops, cabinets, as well as new appliances. His work was exceptional! He even made a custom backsplash! We were so pleased, not just with his work, but with his honesty and care to do the job rightly for us that we hired him again to redo our basement. He put in a new full bathroom as well as a laundry room! I give Joe my highest recommendation."

"

My husband and I are remodeling a townhouse.  The master bath was too big a project and we wanted someone who could see our vision and execute it.  Nick was the man.  We had interviewed other companies for tile, however, Nick came through with the flexibility to work us in between his other projects. Since we were under construction, the project could be done in sections over time.  This project included installing a mud mat shower floor with a linear drain and marble curb.  Nick's Kitchen and Bath Remodeling handled it all expertly.  The shower area was just studs.  This project also involved installing Durock on the walls, 10" X 14" wall tiles (cut and installed around a complex shower system) to the ceiling, shower niche, shelf and listello insert around the shower stall, installing a heat mat on the floor with carrara marble floor tiles and marble sills to transition to hardwoods. Nick also installed the 72" vanity and counter we had ordered.

The project spread over two months, however, that included our vacation and the installer's vacation.  We are very pleased with the work.

"Bath Planet came out and remodeled my Bathroom Shower, they were professional, and they did this with in 4 hours, they cleaned up after themselves. We had odd shaped walls but they handled this professionally. Mike the installer was professional, but he did a quality job, he also run into a little plumbing problems, so I had to get my own plumber there to help them out, otherwise everything was good. I am happy so far, it is been 2 weeks of using my new shower and so far so good, very easy cleanup, just wipe down which I Love!!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can remove a bathtub yourself if you have previous DIY experience and basic plumbing knowledge. You should have at least one other person help you if you approach this project as a DIY. However, hiring a plumber or bathroom remodeling pro can prevent accidental damage from demolition or water leakage.

The only downsides to hiring a master plumber is that they charge a higher hourly rate than a less experienced plumber. Plus, master plumbers likely have less availability, given the demand for highly experienced professionals. The benefits far outweigh the cons, though. Upsides include the following:

  • More professional repair

  • More experience fixing your specific issue

  • Recourse if something goes wrong

  • Warranty for the work (in some cases)

  • Some insulation from lawsuits if the plumber gets injured on your property

Yes, you can fill your toilet tank manually to help it flush, or you can pour the water directly into the bowl to flush it manually. This will work for the majority of toilets, as most use a gravity feed system. However, you should only ever use this as a temporary solution. If your toilet tank isn’t filling, you should find out why. First, make sure the speedy valve connected to your toilet and your water main are open. If that doesn’t solve the issue, call in a professional to address the problem.

To unclog the drain pipe, remove the machine's drain hose from the pipe or sink drain, being careful to contain any water in it. Next, use a plunger for sink drains or a plumbing snake for a wall drain. Test the repair by pouring a small amount of water into the pipe before trying it with a laundry load.

You can tell if your toilet fill valve is full by removing the lid and taking a look. When you flush the toilet, the float is at the bottom of the tank, the water empties, and the fill valve opens. The float rises to the top as the tank fills again with water. When the float rises to the right level, the fill valve closes; if the valve is too high, your toilet may only partially flush, requiring you to adjust the float.
