Northeast Mitigation Services, is family owned and operated. Fernando is a state certified Radon Mitigation Technician. Fernando has work several years for the competition, and is a current NEHA (National Environmental Health Association) , AARST (American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists) and follows EPA Technical guidelines. Northeast Systems Radon was established to provide quality service at an affordable price, we guarantee to reduce the levels of radon to under 4 pCi/L or your money back! LICENSE HIC# 639071 RMT# 103891. 24 hour emergency service available

"Do NOT hire Fernando of Northeast Mitigation System to do any work for you. He installed a radon mitigation system at our house a year ago and it took him three attempts to get it under the recommended 4.0 pCi/L. He kept making excuses about why he couldn't get it right, including saying we needed a sump pump. Now, a year later our levels are extremely high again (11.0!) and he is refusing to honor his warranty on the system. We did end up installing a sump pump within that year to avoid flooding issues and he now says that having a sump pump could be causing problems for his system and conveniently doesn't remember telling us that we should get one installed. He is extremely unprofessional and has been nothing but a headache to deal with. I've never had a more frustrating experience with a "professional". Save yourself the trouble and hire CT Basement Systems instead."

"I have used Wolfram Merz in the past for repairs to my Central Air Conditioner System and re-roofing part of my house. He did a quality job in all aspects. So, in 2018, when a tornado ripped up a 70 foot Oak tree from six feet away and tossed it onto my home office extension (while I was in it), damaging the roof and three rooms, I called Wolfram to ask if he could be the General Contractor to manage the $29,000+ repairs specified by my Insurance company. I had never managed such a complex job before between the Insurance and Mortgage company and all the specialists that would be needed. The complexity of dealing with so many different agencies and contractors just made me so stressed out that I would have to sign in to the “Home.” Wolfram said he could manage all that and serve as my General Contractor. He did just that. He stepped in and spoke with all the parties and reduced my stress level by 90%. I was thrilled with having such a wise and knowledgeable person in charge. He was always prompt, had first-class associates helping him do the work and in about two weeks did a perfect job and left the property super clean. The Insurance Inspector came, walked around, smiled and took pictures and within three weeks I had a check for full payment from the insurance company. Wow! Wolfram is at the top of all my lists for a wide variety of home repairs. -G"

American Plumber is a new up and coming plumbing business, which puts customers first. Our top priority is customer service and satisfaction. We strive to be your first choice for all of your plumbing and heating needs. All of our employees are trained professionals who always provide service with a smile. Our prices are competitive and we look forward to speaking and working with you soon.

"On April 21, 2018, Ernest Serghi of American Plumber, LLC gave an estimate to replace the existing 1.5” underground gas line from the gas meter to the pool heater. This line is buried 30”. I told him that I wanted a 1.5” poly gas pipe buried 18” which was specified by the Holmdel plumbing inspector. He agreed to this and I signed the contract. On May 9, 2018, Ernest came to do the job and dug a narrow trench with a small hand-operated trenching machine and rolled out the yellow poly gas line, I measured the depth immediately and told Ernest that it was only about 12” deep and I wanted it 18” deep as he had agreed to. Ernest said the Code only requires a 12” depth and refused to dig the trench deeper. Ernest did the job in just 2 hours since he did not dig the trench 18 inches as he had agreed to. I have photographic evidence that in one area the gas line is only 9 inches deep. This is a violation of NJ Fuel Gas Code 404.9 that specifies a minimum burial depth of 12”. On May 10, 2018, the Holmdel plumbing inspector looked at the job quickly and approved it. However, he failed to measure the depth of the gas line and did not realize that it did not meet the minimum burial depth required by the Code. In the contract job description, Ernest did not specify in writing the 18” burial depth of the gas line that he had agreed to. I should have required this wording since Ernest did not honor our verbal agreement. I have contacted American Plumber, LLC several times in an attempt to have them correct the code violation and adjust the contract price to reflect the work that was actually done. Instead of trying to correct their error, American Plumber, LLC is demanding payment in full and filed with the Clerk of Monmouth County a Notice of Unpaid Balance and Right to File Lien against my property. I have filed complaints about this unscrupulous and dishonest contractor Ernest Serghis of American Plumber, LLC with the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs and Better Business Bureau."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.

Hard water isn’t necessarily bad for you. In some ways, it’s good for you. If you’re deficient in magnesium or calcium, hard water can give you a mineral boost that you wouldn’t get with soft water. However, this is where the benefits of hard water pretty much stop. Hard water can cause many minor inconveniences and lead to costly, premature replacements of your water-using appliances.

Water purifiers and water softeners serve different purposes, so the best one will depend on your particular needs. Water purifiers remove contaminants from water (such as bacteria, viruses, and chemicals), leaving you with ultra-clean and safe water. However, water softeners remove minerals from your water so that the water doesn’t leave stains around your house or cause plumbing problems.

Most of the U.S. has hard water, especially across portions of the West and Midwest. The areas with the hardest water include parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, North and South Dakota, Ohio, and New York. You’ll find soft water in parts of New England, the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii.

Drinking hard water is not known to have any negative health impacts. Using hard water can lead to dry skin and hair, and the minerals in hard water can build up in pipes, faucets, and appliances. Hard water is more of a threat to your plumbing than it is to your health.
