"I have used AStar in the past and will continue to use them for all my future heating system needs. AStar staff from telephone reception to the completion of the work by the technician were professional, courteous and knowledgeable.  Technician was prompt and complete all of the work in a timely manner.  Exceptionally thorough in his diagnostic work and in the completion of the repair work required.  He took the time to explain every detail of the job with me and gave me a better understanding of how my heating system works.  I have used AStar in the past and will continue to use them for all of my heating system needs.  Great job and I can't recommend them enough!

"It is my daughters house and her furnace went. I was at my daughters house for the installation. They came right out but could not do the job for 2 days being the weekend . They gave her heaters to use for free and did exactly what they said they would. They replaced her furnace and the job was done quickly and the cleanup was excellent. Definitely recommend. Prices were same or less than others we checked out."

"The owner came out at 10:00pm to my house because I had no heat. He diagnosed the problem but could not fix it that night. He did get the water to circulate to try to keep it from freezing. The next day he found the unique part we needed at his distributor and by noon got my heat running. This company is honest caring and gives old fashion service. He saved me hundreds in repair bills for broken pipes."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Unless they are connected to the same system, boilers and water heaters will both need their own expansion tanks. The only case they wouldn’t have separate expansion tanks is if the boiler is pulling double duty and managing a heating system while also supplying hot water for a home. In which case, you may not need a hot water heater.

You can use multiple tankless water heaters, but that doesn’t mean you should. Adding multiple tankless heaters adds considerable cost to your home in both parts and installation costs. Also, you’re adding many more points of failure in the system, making plumbing issues harder to diagnose. More heaters mean more maintenance, and insurers may want a word regarding the increased risk of water damage. A single, larger unit makes more sense in most situations.

Choosing between an electric water heater vs. a gas water heater comes down to personal preference. Overall, electric heaters are more energy efficient than their gas competitors. They’re also quieter to operate, take up less room, and don’t come with a risk of gas leaks.

The downside is that electric water heaters cost more to operate than gas. They might also struggle to heat water fast enough for households that use large amounts of hot water. Lastly, a power outage could cause your electric water heater to stop working, whereas gas water heaters may still function.

The right way to vent a gas water heater is to have a pipe directly upward or slopes upward out of the house. Because hot air naturally rises, this type of venting will efficiently ensure that all gas moves out of the house. Your system may rely on fans or blowers as well.

Your water heater's age can affect your homeowners' insurance policy. Many policies will ask how old the heater is when you first apply for a policy—and they may make you replace a model that's over 10 years old.

Even if your policy permits you to have an older heater, it may significantly reduce the amount of protection available. If an older water heater suddenly leaks and causes damage to parts of your home, your policy may not cover it.
