"I’m so happy with the job the guys did. I had to have two tree stumps ground out before the work could be done. The tree stump guys broke my fence gate, and turns out they left one stump in the ground which I couldn’t see under the mess they left. Jason and his crew were able to get the stump out, remove an old slate patio, and create a beautiful new extended patio for me. I had jokingly pointed out a pile of slate chips in my backyard that were an eyesore. When they finished up that day, I saw that Jason had pushed down the pile of chips so they are no longer visible from my yard, and they fixed my fence gate! Such nice guys, all of them. Thank you for my beautiful patio!"

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. The common alternative is adding a sand or gravel layer under a concrete slab to enhance bonding and create a stable foundation. The right choice depends on the height and thickness of your two slabs, local laws, and the use of the specific concrete slab.

Concrete blemishes such as chipped steps or small cracks are fixable with patching. For bigger jobs, including driveway repair and cracks wider than a 1/4 of an inch, patches will only serve as a temporary fix. Resurfacing is ideal when the surface is showing more widespread wear—like if it’s pitted, rough, or has lots of cracks. Resurfacing gives your concrete a fresh, like-new appearance without needing a full replacement.

When the concrete is severely cracked, sinking, or otherwise structurally unsound, replacing it might be your best option. Replacement ensures the safety and longevity of the surface in this case.
