We have not found it easy to get good people to work on Air Conditioning in Red Hook.  After my call, Daniel came out personally to look at the job, which was in a hot, difficult crawl space above our kitchen.  He recommended putting in a larger condensate pan, sloping it properly, cleaning out the discharge line, and installing a float switch that would shut off the A/C if the pan was not draining properly.  He estimated it might take two men a half a day, and we agreed to the estimate.

The men came as scheduled, but were through quite quickly, and originally said it was only $375.00, not $800.00 as estimated, but then said they were wrong and collected the full $800.00.  We should have suspected that something was wrong then.

Other contractors working on a kitchen remodel at the time told us a couple of weeks later that the pan was still not sloped correctly, that the insulation around the air handler was soaked, and that there was a float switch that had not been installed. This was a serious concern, as this was on a Friday, and we were leaving for the summer the following Tuesday.  Daniel was very cooperative and responsive, and had another man out on Monday morning.  It appeared that the original crew had not fully understood the job and not completed all the work properly.  But the individual who came on Monday assured us that when he left everything was in good order.

We returned home in September to find that the paint was blistered on the ceiling, right under the air handler.  We called Rohde immediately, and he agreed to send another man out.  When that individual came he got up in the space and found it completely dry and everything working properly.  It appears that the work was indeed done correctly on the second visit, and the ceiling paint problem may have been from painting the ceiling while it was still damp from the original problem.

Obviously we would have liked it if everything had been taken care of right the first time.  But to Daniel's credit, he was always responsive and got it taken care of without complaint or extra charges.  We are almost an hour travel time from their office, and appreciate the service.  We would not hesitate to call and use them again in the future.
