"Family owned and operated business - what a pleasure it was to work with Angel Galvez and his team, straight forward and very reasonable pricing, they showed up on time, got to work immediately tackling some trees located in challenging areas, everything went ultra smooth with them and they were very respectful. I'll only use Galvez Tree service moving forward! thanks again!"

"We had a MASSIVE tree in a very tight spot. Other companies, that use lifts and other heavy equipment in order to get 'up there', had questioned their own ability to get their equipment close enough to the tree and remove it without damaging the other trees around it and/or a neighboring shed. They also needed access to neighboring properties and were uncertain they could drop the giant on the available spot. Then Alec, from Willowtree, shows up, looks up for about a minute and gets right back to me with a quote. No equipment. He climbs, secures and lowers pieces of tree, bit by bit, to his awaiting crew (also awesome guys). When there was nothing but the trunk left, he dropped it EXACTLY in the narrow available spot. And did I mention my pleads for the safety of a little plant here and a little bush there? Yeah, well: it all survived unscathed! There was never a question or a concern. He also addressed other concerning tree matters in our yard, put up a bat house for us, and more!"

"I can't say enough positive things about this group. They were punctual, professional, and showed great attention to detail. And they offered very competitive pricing to boot! They worked all day on my yard, eliminating and removing 2 large oak trees, an extremely tall hickory tree, 9 pine trees, and a "widow-maker" deciduous tree in 100 degree heat. My kids and I tried to bring them food, drinks, chairs, etc... , but we had to be EXTREMELY forceful for them to accept our offering. I'm very tight-fisted with money, but I opted to tip over $400 because of my appreciation and respect for the work they performed."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Tree maintenance in Poughkeepsie should include regular pruning to remove dead branches, annual inspections for disease or pests, and soil testing to guide fertilization. Mulch trees each spring to retain moisture and protect roots. After storms, check for broken limbs or hazards. Schedule tree trimming in late fall or winter when trees are dormant, and monitor for signs of emerald ash borer or other local threats year-round.

Helpful?

Homes in Poughkeepsie’s historic or hillside areas may present challenges for tree trimming or removal. Narrow driveways, close-set buildings, or steep slopes can limit equipment access. Older homes might have shallow or unknown utility lines, increasing risk during tree service. If large trees are near your foundation or roof, extra planning is needed to prevent property damage and ensure safe, efficient work.

Helpful?

Poughkeepsie’s climate affects tree service needs throughout the year. Cold winters can cause ice damage, requiring emergency tree removal or branch trimming. Humid summers stress trees, making regular watering and pest checks important. Wet spring soil may delay heavy equipment use, while fall offers ideal conditions for planting and structural pruning. Proximity to the Hudson River can also influence soil stability and scheduling for tree care.

Helpful?

For tree service projects in Poughkeepsie, select native species like Sugar Maple or Red Oak for planting, as they thrive in local conditions. Use hardwood mulch to conserve moisture and protect roots, and install tree guards to deter wildlife. Invest in sharp pruning shears and pole saws for tree trimming, and use slow-release fertilizer suited to Hudson Valley soils. Always prioritize sturdy rigging and safety gear for tree removal jobs.

Helpful?

In Poughkeepsie, be wary if a tree service provider cannot show proof of insurance or skips discussing utility line safety. Quotes that don’t mention necessary permits or are much lower than others may signal shortcuts in tree removal or trimming. Avoid companies without local references or a physical address, and never pay the full amount upfront. Confirm that cleanup and compliance with local tree regulations are included in the quote.
