Passaic Bergen Water Softening
Passaic Bergen Water Softening
Proudly purifying water since 1954, we transform home and commercial water with our InstaSoft treatment system. Our expert technicians analyze your water quality and recommend the perfect solution, from water softeners and filters to reverse osmosis and UV disinfection systems. Enjoy cleaner, healthier water free of unwanted minerals, chemicals, and bacteria.
"Second time i had an issue with then over charging me. I had setup an appointment for salt delivery and to check the water filtration system. In between the scheduling and the appointment the water filter issue resolved itself, they insist on still charging me $150 for the service visit ex the salt delivery. Keep in mind one technician came out to put salt in the water softener and “check” water system. I never got a bill or adked to sign anything, they just charged the card on file. Random charge just shows up on my credit card. Borderline fraudulent activity here. Would be very careful using them if you are a new customer. Further there filters are custom so you need them to change the filter every 4-6 months which you can only use them and they charge near $500 for this. Be really careful with this company! Not to mention they don't tell you, your water pressure goes down by 40% when u install this stuff!"

WWith our years of experience and total confidence in the abilities of our highly skilled and certified HVAC technicians, customers can rest assured that we'll do it right the first time.
"I hired them based upon reviews that were several years old. I was charged for unnecessary work. Every visit had another urgent repair that wasn't urgent before. I just found a bunch of tools missing. If you use them go to the basement to 'check the work done' before you let them leave. It is too late to call them on it but no other people have been in my basement. There are better companies out there. (Design Air/Gold Medal/Waterworks are the names that Design Air has)"

American Plumber LLC
American Plumber LLC
American Plumber is a new up and coming plumbing business, which puts customers first. Our top priority is customer service and satisfaction. We strive to be your first choice for all of your plumbing and heating needs. All of our employees are trained professionals who always provide service with a smile. Our prices are competitive and we look forward to speaking and working with you soon.
"On April 21, 2018, Ernest Serghi of American Plumber, LLC gave an estimate to replace the existing 1.5” underground gas line from the gas meter to the pool heater. This line is buried 30”. I told him that I wanted a 1.5” poly gas pipe buried 18” which was specified by the Holmdel plumbing inspector. He agreed to this and I signed the contract. On May 9, 2018, Ernest came to do the job and dug a narrow trench with a small hand-operated trenching machine and rolled out the yellow poly gas line, I measured the depth immediately and told Ernest that it was only about 12” deep and I wanted it 18” deep as he had agreed to. Ernest said the Code only requires a 12” depth and refused to dig the trench deeper. Ernest did the job in just 2 hours since he did not dig the trench 18 inches as he had agreed to. I have photographic evidence that in one area the gas line is only 9 inches deep. This is a violation of NJ Fuel Gas Code 404.9 that specifies a minimum burial depth of 12”. On May 10, 2018, the Holmdel plumbing inspector looked at the job quickly and approved it. However, he failed to measure the depth of the gas line and did not realize that it did not meet the minimum burial depth required by the Code. In the contract job description, Ernest did not specify in writing the 18” burial depth of the gas line that he had agreed to. I should have required this wording since Ernest did not honor our verbal agreement. I have contacted American Plumber, LLC several times in an attempt to have them correct the code violation and adjust the contract price to reflect the work that was actually done. Instead of trying to correct their error, American Plumber, LLC is demanding payment in full and filed with the Clerk of Monmouth County a Notice of Unpaid Balance and Right to File Lien against my property. I have filed complaints about this unscrupulous and dishonest contractor Ernest Serghis of American Plumber, LLC with the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs and Better Business Bureau."

Mainstream Plumbing & Heating
Mainstream Plumbing & Heating
Mainstream Plumbing and Heating LLC is owner/operated by Master Plumber, Steven Silvestri. Steven has over 20 years experience in the plumbing and heating industry. Mainstream is a fully insured and licensed company.
"We highly recommend Steven at Mainstream Plumbing & Heating. Our first experience with Mainstream Plumbing & Heating was in 2020 during Covid when we lost hot water in our house. Our previous plumber went out of business and luckily Steven was available. He diagnosed the issue and explained that we needed a new water heater. Even though supply was tight, he was able to find a new Rheem water heater and install it quickly. We previously bought a warranty extension kit for our old water heater and even though previous plumber installed it, Steven promised to file claim with manufacturer to reclaim money for us. We were pleasantly surprised that Steven contacted us a few months later to give us the warranty money that he recovered. We are extremely grateful for his honesty and integrity! Throughout the years he has fixed the toilet flush valves in 2 of our bathrooms, fixed clogged bathroom sink and replaced the drain and replaced a leaking shower fixture. Most recently he troubleshooted the loss of water pressure in our kitchen and discovered that the shut off valves had failed and discharged debris towards the faucet causing a blockage issue. Steven’s work is impeccable and he is always prompt, clean and utilizes the best materials. He explains the problem clearly and provides fair estimates given his expertise and quality of work. We highly recommend Steven and look forward to continue working with him for all our plumbing needs!"

FAQs for water softener service projects in Hillburn, NY
The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
