"We had a phone call and he actually helped me figure out that I might need a plumber instead of HVAC repair. Mark was very courteous and so helpful! If we do end up needing to go back to him I will definitely call for them to make a visit."

"The Appliance Guy (Justin) was exactly what we needed. Straight shooting, to the point, knowledgeable and professional. Repaired our 1930s antique Magic Chef that others quoted us insane amounts to get up and running. Justin came in, did a thorough cleaning, located the issue, repaired the pilot light system and got her up and running at a fair price. So pleased with the outcome of his work. Will 100% use again for future appliance needs."

"We hired them to clean our HVAC ducts as we had just bought this house. We are glad we did as before pics showed a horrible situation. They were reasonably priced and they were quick to respond to our needs. Work was completed within 48 hours as requested to meet our schedule. Highly recommend them"

"Hello, from the first conversation with MOH, he was very professional and informative. I told him the fan of my unit wasn’t working. I asked what the fee would be to have the company come out to asses the unit?he told me what the price was and explained that if and when the they checked it out that fee would be in the total price for parts, and labor. Fast forward they came at the time they scheduled and worked all while informing me as to what needed to be changed, repaired, maintenance service. I’m pleased with the work. MOH and his partner were AWESOME. I recommend them for anyone with HVAC A/C repairs. As warm as it was today they made it the company’s business to fit me in for service this afternoon. They worked fast and efficiently. My unit is working well, thanks again MOH Ma. Niki Neal Elmont, NY"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

If you’re looking for a portable, budget-friendly cooling solution that doesn’t require any venting or installation, a ventless AC system is a good option. Similarly, this is a great choice if you’re renting an apartment or home and aren’t allowed to make large, structural changes like installing comprehensive HVAC, or you’re in a shared space and only need to cool your own room.

A one-stage air conditioner only has one setting, while a two-stage air conditioner has a high and low setting. A two-stage air conditioner costs between $500 and $2,500 more than a traditional air conditioner, but it has a longer lifespan and helps to increase energy efficiency. To make this decision, you should consider your energy needs and available budget.

After a while, dust, dirt, and other debris accumulates on an AC unit's coils and filters, making it less efficient and spreading allergens and other air pollutants throughout your home. Cleaning your AC unit will keep it running efficiently, minimizing future breakdowns and improving your indoor air quality.
