Small jobs welcome

"I’ve had bighorn plumbing out to my home in west Carson City a few times and they have always been great. They recently replaced a toilet for me and I accidentally messed up the caulking and they came back and took care of it for me free of charge since I was a part of their memberships program. Them going above and beyond means a lot, so I highly recommend them for any plumbing needs you have! Ben the young man who came and fixed the toilet was very friendly and soft spoken."

"The plumber installed a Moen shutoff device as required by our insurance company to prevent potential flooding from water line leaks. The work was expertly and professionally done. The office staff was helpful and pleasant to work with and understood what we needed."

"It went quite well. The fellow that came out and did the work was very knowledgeable and helpful. It was a reasonable price. They knew what had to be done to get it up to code because it is an older house. The previous water heater didn't have an expansion tank or earthquake straps. It didn't have the pan and things that were needed for code. I was quite pleased. He had to get under the house and drill some holes through the wall to get the overflow out of the house because the area where the water heater was didn't have a drain in the floor. He was the least expensive."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

In Reno, urgent issues like burst pipes, sewage backups, or gas line problems require immediate attention from an emergency plumber, especially before freezing temperatures set in. Water heater failures, persistent leaks, and low water pressure should be addressed within weeks. Cosmetic upgrades or minor drips can be scheduled for later. Always prioritize repairs before winter to prevent frozen pipes and additional water damage.

Helpful?

In Reno, homes with slab foundations or limited crawl space access can make plumbing repairs more challenging. Older properties may have outdated galvanized pipes or complex layouts from past renovations. Rocky terrain or hillside lots can complicate excavation for new lines. Watch for signs like multiple additions, uneven floors, or lack of access panels—these often signal potential complications for plumbing projects or upgrades.

Helpful?

When reviewing plumbing quotes in Reno, be wary of contractors who provide only verbal estimates, insist on cash payments, or avoid written agreements. Extremely low bids may indicate subpar materials or hidden fees, while vague timelines and missing warranty details are also concerning. Reliable plumbing professionals in NV should offer detailed, written quotes, explain all permit needs, and provide clear communication about the project scope and materials.

Helpful?

Reno offers a range of plumbing professionals, including general plumbing contractors for routine repairs and installations, and specialists for emergency plumbing services, water heater repairs, and drain cleaning. Some focus on commercial plumbing for businesses or large properties. In older neighborhoods, repiping experts are valuable. All reputable NV contractors should carry insurance, understand local permit requirements, and stay updated on plumbing industry standards.

Helpful?

After completing plumbing repairs in Reno, monitor all new connections for leaks and check water pressure over the next two days. Run each fixture to flush out debris and watch for cloudy or discolored water. Store all permits and warranty documents in a safe place. Because of Reno’s winter climate, confirm that exposed pipes are insulated and consider scheduling a professional inspection within six months, especially in homes with hard water.
