Small jobs welcome

"Chris & Trin were very professional. Came out prepared to start the work the day I called and requested their advise. There had to be a 2nd trip due to access problems, but they were very honest, sincere, and very accommodating to our needs. I recommend them without reservation. Thank You Allied Electric!"

"My hot tub power stopped. I decided the first step would be to have the breaker checked. I was worried as a freeze could damage the components. Pedro responded within an hour, was at my house within 4 hours. Pedro tested the fuse, determined it was bad all the while explaining to me what he was doing and the results. Within an hour my electricity was restored to the hot tub! He was upfront about the price which I feel was appropriate. I really appreciated Pedro's professionalism!"

"I called Jake on short notice to repair an electrical outlet in the garage (which continually tripped). He came out even though it was late in the day. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the GFI outlet. Great service. I will be contacting Jake when I am back in town to perform additional work at the house."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

After completing electrical work in Reno, keep all approved plans and inspection records from the City of Reno Building Division for future reference. Schedule a professional electrical inspection every three to five years to check for code compliance and wear, especially if your home experiences seasonal temperature changes. Regular maintenance helps prevent safety hazards and ensures your system remains up to date with Reno's electrical permit standards.

Helpful?

In Reno, common mistakes include skipping required electrical inspections, hiring unlicensed contractors, and using materials not approved by the City of Reno Building Division. Failing to calculate electrical loads accurately or neglecting to keep documentation can also lead to failed inspections and safety risks. To avoid these issues, always follow Reno's electrical permit process and consult the Nevada State Contractors Board for licensed professionals.

Helpful?

For Reno electrical projects, select materials that comply with the National Electrical Code and City of Reno standards. Use UL-listed wiring and panels rated for local climate conditions, as temperature swings in NV can affect material performance. Dedicated circuits are required for high-demand appliances like EV chargers. Confirm with a licensed Reno electrician that all materials meet local inspection requirements to avoid costly rework.

Helpful?

Before starting any electrical project in Reno, review the City of Reno Building Division's guidelines to determine if an electrical permit is needed. Prepare detailed plans, gather required documents such as site layouts and load calculations, and submit your application early. Schedule inspections in advance, especially during peak construction months, and always hire a licensed electrician to help avoid delays and ensure your project passes Reno electrical inspections.

Helpful?

In Reno, most electrical projects—such as panel upgrades, new circuits, whole-home rewiring, and installing electric vehicle chargers—require an electrical permit from the City of Reno Building Division. Minor repairs, like replacing outlets or switches, may be exempt. For accurate requirements, consult the City of Reno Building Division and the Nevada State Contractors Board before starting any electrical work to ensure full compliance with local codes.
