"The crew was very professional, did their job expeditiously, and took care to install properly. They even had spray paint to corner nails and marks. Both Jeff and Ed did a great job, I especially appreciated, the company hired Veterans."

"I was having my kitchen remodeled. The day of install, the installer removed the old backsplash and was about to place the quartz on the damaged wall. I told them to stop and repair the damage wall. One of the guys told me that they don’t do repairs. I was in distress that I reached out to Angie’s list and found Premier Design. I called and Nick answered, he told me that he could get one of their best workers to fix the wall the next day on a Saturday. The next day, I met the Co-owner Pedro who was very professional and answered any questions that I may have about my contract. The drywaller finished the repair in a few hours. It looked beautiful. I was so pleased with the work."

"I chose AR Iron based on the positive reviews on Angi. I called and they scheduled an appointment to measure the side yard and give me an estimate. I wanted a basic gate with mesh backing. He indicated that I would need a panel along with the gate and then provided me with an estimate for $1,080, half of which was payable when I ordered the gate. The balance was due at installation. I decided to order the gate and was told to allow about a month for the gate to be ready. About 3 weeks later, the company called to say that they would be out the following Monday to install the gate. The installers did a beautiful job and in less than an hour, I had my new gate. The gate and panel fit the space perfectly, and the installers cleaned up afterward, so it looks very nice. Very pleased with AR Iron's service."

Licensed Nevada State Contractor Landscape C-10 with monetary limit of $950,000 and Masonry C-18 with monetary limit of $50,000. Subs used for concrete. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charges.

"When we bought a new house in Sun City Anthem in 2006, we got several bids for landscaping the entire lot. We chose Juan Tovar, owner of Tovar Landscape & Design. Ours had more curb appeal than most houses. Something was in bloom every day of the year. They did soft- and hardscape and we were very happy. Some neighbors used Tovar and were also very happy. We later had his guys convert our stained driveway to pavers, continuing the pavers to the walkways. Great job. Also, after a big freeze, people lost trees. Landscapers charged to replace them, saying the trees were fine, it was the weather. In our case, however, Tovar had planted two of the same tree in our front yard. One died, one lived. He replaced the tree that died after the freeze saying that it was the tree, not the freeze; if it was the freeze, they both would have died. Boy were our neighbors who didn't use Tovar jealous! In 2017, we moved to Solera Anthem. Our neighbor hired Tovar to convert her driveway to pavers, and to install a planter. Both are beautiful. In 2019, we bought a new house in Inspirada. Because of our long-term positive experiences with Tovar, this time we didn't get any bids except from him. In this case, the front and side yards are already "landscaped" (such as they are by low-end builder KB Homes). Tovar designed the backyard landscaping, added a paver walkway from the front porch to the side gate, and added uplighting to the existing tree in the front yard, and added tier lights to the sidewalk. We are very happy. They started 1/2 day late, but he texted me the update. They finished on a Monday instead of the previous Friday, but that happens. Team Leader Igor's English is as good as mine. The crew work so hard; you gotta feel for them working in the Vegas heat. But they really know what they are doing and the work is done and it is, as always, excellent. We thought it would only cost about $7,000; it cost over $10,000!! Considering they only had the backyard and one paver path, we think that's a bit high. I hate to think what it would have cost to have Tovar do the entire lot. Guess we would have gotten additional bids. Juan is responsive. If you call the office, his wife Eileen is VERY responsive, ensures she gets back to you with an update and/or answer. In spite of what I "think" is a lot of money for the amount of work involved, I highly recommend Tovar Landscape & Design. After all, we didn't get any other bids, so we don't in fact know that $10K was higher than it should have been. Because the amount of work that was done here is minimal, I'm also including photos of our Sun City Anthem yard."

"Living Water was fantastic to work with from beginning to end. From talking to Rebecca (Office person) to make the appointment. The owner Mark coming out to discuss what we wanted in the backyard and how best to get it done. To all the people on the job every day being polite and knowledgeable in answering any questions we might have. The work we wanted was the concrete patio and sidewalk removed and pavers installed, we also wanted the old grill island removed and a new one built, we wanted a fire pit and both to use house gas. Next we wanted the pool deck resurfaced and a 6ft section of it replaced do to cracks. There was auguring of 2 holes 4in watering holes for each of the 4 sumacs. Last but not least all rock removed and new rock put back. After Mark took measurements we talked more about what we wanted and what things cost. Never once did we feel as if he was rushing our conversation. He fully answered all my questions and asked a few of his own. We were told it takes about a week to finish the estimate. 6 days later we got our line by line estimate. At which time we paid $1,000 to have Mark do a computer generation simulation of what our back yard would like. If you accept the bid this goes towards your bill. The work to be completed was removal 15 by 20ft section of concrete patio and attached side walk, removal of old grill island 12X10X4 (stucco and metal frame) , mostly dead grass, 15 to 20 tons of rock, grinding down of pool deck and full replacement of 6ft part of pool deck. Install work was; put in gas line from house to grill island and fire pit, install 20 tons of rock, install 15 plants, build grill island (grill, frig, two drawers and paper towel holder), install 10 lights and control box and install patio pavers from driveway to back of house creating the patio. People to mention; Christian who spent 10 days meticulously building this incredible island BBQ. He cut and laid every block with care. Ensuring each one was just right before cementing any in place. Yugo who had to come out three times to fix plants that weren’t doing well. I can’t say enough about the way we were treated every time we called with questions or concerns. The time everyone took to listen and if need be stop by to see what we were talking about. Thank you all so much for making our back yard this wonderful, peaceful and relaxing space."

"It has just been over a year since they completed my services. The Good: It's sad that I have to give them a less than stellar review, because their workmanship and product is beautiful. Luis came out for an estimate, he was prompt and friendly. I gave him $2k on the spot. However, after they get your deposit, you have to do all the work. I had courtyard gates/fence put up to fence off my entrance way. Other than some mild bleeding of rust from the bottom of fence (due to using paint and not powder coat) the final result looks and functions great. The bad: When the installers came, about mid way through I came out to check on their progress. I had a single question for one of the guys about what I was seeing, nothing out of the ordinary, and they had no people skills. He was instantly perturbed, he couldn't even hide it, looked at me with disgust, gave me dirty looks. It really was disproportionate to the question. The Ugly: So after giving my deposit. Luis told me he'd draw a sketch and email it in a couple of days and I needed to approve it. Admittedly, shortly after I had to go out of town for a month for work and got busy and I forgot. About a month later, I realized I never gave approval of the sketch. I went into my inbox it was there, but what dawned on me is that they don't run a tight business. One would think if you are a business waiting on your customer to get started on the job, and they never responded, then you would reach out to them. I responded to the email that I approved of the sketch and a week went by and I heard nothing. So I called and was told by a lady she'd check into it and call back. I never heard back another week or two went by I called back, she confirmed receipt and told me they'd call me when ready. I never heard from them. At every point I had to poke and prod them, until they finally came and installed the gates. Bottom line: If you want a good product and don't mind horrible customer service, then Vargas is the one for you. However, if you like your businesses that work for you to actually put forth effort in your customer interactions, then I'd steer clear. If you doubt what I'm saying, notice unlike many companies on Angie's List, when someone gives them a less than favorable review, those business respond. As you can see Vargas hasn't given a **** about their complaints and haven't responded to a single one as far as I can see."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The distance between fence posts depends on the type of fence you’re installing. Wood and metal fence posts should be between 5 feet and 8 feet apart. Chain-link fence posts can be closer together at 4 feet apart, or the spacing can be up to 10 feet apart. Vinyl fence posts can be between 6 feet and 8 feet apart, and wire fence posts can be up to 12 feet apart.

If you come face-to-face with a wolf in your yard, chances are it will be afraid of you as a human. Make eye contact and get big—waving your arms to increase your size. Use noisemakers or air horns if you have them, or throw a few rocks around to discourage them from approaching you. If all else fails and the wolf does not retreat, back away slowly while maintaining eye contact and find safe ground, whether indoors or up a tree.

Regular lawn care keeps snakes away because it eliminates common hiding places. You can deter snakes by trimming grass, shrubs, and trees and removing weeds from your lawn and gardens. Clear away leaves and other debris that could serve as a potential snake habitat. You can also seal entry points around building perimeters and install metal snake fencing.

Yes, you can use a floor jack to remove fence posts. Attach a stem to the base of the fence post so you can position the floor jack underneath. The stem can be a scrap piece of wood attached with nails or a sturdy nail itself. Put the jack beneath the stem and push the lever to lift up on the fence post and remove it from the ground.

While there’s no hard evidence to support this idea, driveway gates at least provide an additional obstacle that may deter crime. After all, a would-be burglar or trespasser would have to break into the gate and the property itself. The extra work could encourage them to move onto a house without a driveway gate.
