"I was totally awestruck by Mike's professionalism, knowledge and honesty. He was able to reassure me that my used computer is in tip top shape and has more memory then I even imagined. He was able to remotely get into my computer to check it out since he is in Arizona and I am in Oklahoma. Normally I would not have allowed this-but thanks to Mikes many tremendous reviews and A Grade I trusted him and do not regret it. In my opinion he deserves an A++! It's been 20 years since I have owned a desktop computer and I'm obviously not tech savvy! Mike did not take advantage of that and was even kind enough to share some info with me free of charge. I have already opened a file (in my filing account with his name on it)! I am making a list of things for him to help me with and will definitely be back in touch with him. I highly recommend Mike's company to anyone looking for an honest, reputable computer repair person."

"AMAZING RESPONSE AND SERVICE!!!
I called Elite A/V and owner Jeremy answered at 6:30p Friday evening July 3rd on a holiday weekend and their tech Dillon was here by 8:45p!  Wow!
Since installation three years ago (by Best Buy) we've had an intermittent issue with our audio dropping out from our TV/Cable/Receiver system. It was like there was some sort of secret mystery remote control button combination that would totally shut down the audio but we still had picture. As equally confusing was there was no apparent or consistent fix that restarted the audio. I've spent at least a dozen hours plugging, unplugging, wading through menus etc plus Cox / LG tech support to no avail.  I've worked in film and television my entire life so it's not like I'm a neophyte.
The tech, Dillon was polite, professional and apparently very knowledgeable as he had our audio up within 10-15 minutes.  What he found was that during the original setup the installer had assigned conflicting input/outputs to the same HDMI port and instead of just looking for an HDMI signal from the cable box, it was also looking for an optical audio signal from the coaxial cable at the same time.  This created a conflict in the port and was causing our problem.  That may not be a 100% accurate description but it's as close as I can remember.
Since I thought this was likely some sort of remote controller issue, I had asked them to bring out a universal remote system. However, once I explained to Dillon how we use our system, he said there was really no need to spend money on an expensive fancy remote for our basic use and needs. What a hero!
The repair cost was more than reasonable and Dillon left with a handsome gratuity for his honesty and great attitude!  I'll be calling these guys back next week for some home automation needs and I highly recommend this vendor to anyone!

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"Went very well.....scheduled appointment at my convenience, was on time, and worked very quickly.  Showed what work he did.  I waited a couple of weeks before submitting this report to make sure I had no further issues.   Computer works fine and problem resolved.  I would use My Computer Buddy again.

"They were a little slow on replying to my inquiries, sometimes several days.
My laptop was returned fully functional, but covered with dust. I had to clean it when I received it.
They did more than I asked by replacing the motherboard, where I thought that they would only repair the DC jack (my laptop wouldn't charge after buying a new battery and a new AC adapter).

FAQs for computer repair projects in Jean, NV

The time it takes to repair a computer depends on the repair needed and part availability. It can take between a few hours to three weeks to fully restore your computer. Certain repairs, like data recovery or network configuration, can be done remotely within a few hours. Other problems, like a Blue Screen Error Code, could take multiple days to resolve fully. Consult a computer repair technician for a diagnosis of your computer’s problem and estimated timeline for repairs.

The average desktop PC lasts three to eight years, while laptops last only three to five years. Desktop computers tend to last longer because of the extra space inside the box, which allows added airflow. This component also allows easy access to repair individual parts as needed. Laptops have more tightly packed components that can lead to overheating issues and a shorter lifespan.

There are several common repairs between laptops and desktops that you’ll need to address as soon as possible. A slow computer is often related to having too many files on your computer or even spyware. A computer repair professional will scan your system for malware and possibly add more RAM to increase the speed time.

Another common problem is overheating, which is caused by dust build-up on the computer components or a part failure. Older computers might develop graphic problems where the display is fuzzy or altered.

In most circumstances, a computer repair will cost less than replacing your computer. However, there are a few factors to consider before making that decision. First, if the repair will cost more than half the cost of a replacement computer, it might be worth replacing it, especially if it’s reaching its age limit.

In addition, it’s essential to consider whether the repair is a one-time deal or regular occurrence. If the repair is a simple upgrade, it’s worth repairing. However, if you have a serious problem like excessive spyware that cannot be fully resolved, it’s better to replace it.

The average cost for computer repair is between $50 to $150. On average, computer repair technicians charge $60 per hour, though that price can be as low as $40 to as high as $90 per hour.

The necessary repairs will often dictate the type of charge you’ll incur. For example, laptop hardware replacement, such as hard drives, RAM, or keyboards, typically costs $30 per component. However, a complete tuneup, which includes computer upgrades and virus removal, averages around $150.
