"Eric with Vargas Landscaping started by cutting down and removing several trees which was done in one day. He and the crew did a fantastic job. They showed up on time and completed the job that we were promised. Two days later he came back and removed all of the outdated landscaping and irrigation system. He replaced all the plants and rock landscaping in three days. He installed lighting for our new path along with new pavers. He is honest and did what he promised. We would highly recommend."

"Having read consistently good reviews about this company on Angie's List, Google Maps and Yelp, I originally contacted Henrie Tree Service on 02/08/2018 regarding a very tall, now 24-year-old Afghan (Mondell) pine tree in my front yard that was showing signs of blight (brown needles, etc.) especially near the top of the tree. The owner, Duane Henrie, proved to be a very knowledgeable (an arborist) and pleasant fellow who was by no means in a hurry and took his time to explain everything when he came by to see at no-charge me that afternoon. He recommended a wait and see approach with regular deep watering, "Super Thrive" applications and "Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub Protect" for one year or so before any more radical measures such as tree removal should even be considered. Well, in light of this good first experience, I did once again call on Duane Henrie and his crew to remove 2 large and essentially dead bottlebrush shrubs (including stump grinding to bottom) in my backyard on 03/09/2018. They were right on time at 07:00 a.m. as scheduled. Everything went very smoothly and all the work was completed in little over one hour. You'd never know that any plants had once been located in the work area(s); everything was left clean as a whistle and this included repairing any damage that the stump grinding may have caused to my nearby PVC irrigation line. My total cost was $245.00. Personally, Duane and his employees strike me as being one of the best tree service companies in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and the posted reviews all bear this out. Since they keep a busy schedule and are in demand throughout the year, I have already arranged a return visit for July 2018 to trim the 4 palm trees on my property. If you are looking for a truly professional and competent tree service experience by an arborist (not just a landscape service provider who claims to be in the know about all things green and beautiful, but really isn't), then perhaps you too should give Duane Henrie's company a try? If you do, I am quite certain that you will not be disappointed!"

"James A Cary Tree Service has been my arborist for 20+ years. They are a complete tree service, having planted, removed, trimmed, fertilized and maintained all my trees on my half acre property. I have recommended James A Cary tree service to friends, family and neighbors whom have asked, "Who takes care of your trees?" 5 star service always."

"

On 2/10/16, I called this landscaper to have my 7 palm trees trimmed. The day before, I received a notice from my landlord informing me that I had 5 days to get the dead fronds removed. I pulled up Angie’s List and read the reviews of 4 or 5 A-rated landscapers. The first few I checked out had a closing time of 4pm (it was after 4 when I got the notice from the landlord), so when I checked out Land View Landscape I was happy that they were open until 5pm.

When I called and explained my circumstances, the secretary said that they would be able to send out someone the next day and that the work would be done within the next 5 days. When the rep. came on 2/11, he quoted me a cost of $40 per tree (in my estimation an excellent bargain, given the height of the trees and the number of fronds that had to be removed). The rep. told me that he would try to get someone out to do the job on 2/12, but that if he couldn’t he would have someone do it within the time frame I was working with.

As it turned out, the workers were able to come over on 2/12, just two days after I hired them! I thought it would be at least a week before I could get someone to trim the trees. It took only 50 minutes for one guy to trim all 7 trees and he and his buddy on the ground did an excellent job, including cleaning up and hauling away a truck load of fronds. Thank you very much Land View Landscape for doing such an excellent job and for giving us the peace of mind of doing it within a very tight time frame.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, no, tree topping isn’t a good technique, and you should avoid using it in most cases. Tree topping may be the only good option to save a tree following severe damage after a storm, but in most other cases, it’s not the right choice. Tree topping can leave trees vulnerable to disease and further damage, and most pros will suggest against it.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.

It's easy to misidentify trees that appear to be maple trees due to similarities in leaf shapes. Sweetgum, sycamore, and yellow poplar all have leaf shapes and appearances similar to maples. The fact that around a dozen maple tree varieties exist, only about half of which are considered common, makes misidentification an often typical occurrence.
