"VDV Electric is very responsive and does quality work. They installed two flush mount lighting fixtures quickly and cleaned up everything after they were done. They also moved an electric outlet and changed wire locations for a window installation. This was a last minute job and they provided a quote and did the work on the spot. Will definitely use them again if the need arises."

"JJ provided a detailed description of work needed to remove and replace my 20 yr old rusted cooler, complete with photos and an itemized list of labor and parts. Gerrod and James arrived within the time parameter, introduced themselves and got to work. They did need to go get a larger unit and within 4 hours my new cooler was up and cooling my house. What I paid was exactly what was estimated. I received photos of every step of the installation."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Chris from Sage Creek Electric to install a 220 line for my electric dryer. He was efficient, tidy, and quoted me a fair price in comparison to other companies I had received quotes from. The line was neatly installed way faster than expected, and fully functional. Plus he is a really nice guy! He was very professional and I’ve since recommended him to friends seeking an electrician."

"Julio and New Generation Electric llc was great. Julio updated my electrical panel from a 50 amp main breaker to 100 amp main breaker. Julio saved me from having to replace the whole panel which I was told was needed to upgrade to a HVAC system. He also referred me to a couple guys to possibly install a new HVAC system for less then what I was quoted for. I would definitely suggest Julio and New Generation Electric llc for your electrical needs."

"JAM electric has been working diligently on my she shed. They have reworked some faulty electrical work done by a previous handy man. They have updated the electric panel, installed and a new tankless water heater. The owner, Joseph Montoya, and his assistants have been easy to work with. They are professional and do excellent work. Joseph has gone as far as reworking the drywall around my windows to make them more aesthetically pleasing. My goal was to get my place permitted and to assure itâ s safety. This small local business has made this happen. Iâ m grateful for Joseph, Seth and Elijah!!!"

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

In Santa Fe, if your standby generator struggles to run during cold snaps, shows signs of sun-bleached or brittle wiring, or has mounting bolts loosening from adobe or rocky foundations, these are red flags. Pooling water after monsoon rains or dust buildup from spring winds can also signal improper installation. Addressing these Santa Fe-specific issues early helps prevent backup power failures.

Helpful?

Combining generator installation with electrical panel upgrades, solar integration, or HVAC system improvements in Santa Fe is highly efficient. Coordinating trenching for propane lines or backup power systems with other projects reduces disruption and speeds up permitting. In historic neighborhoods, bundling work can simplify approvals and minimize landscape disturbance, making it easier to protect your home’s unique character while improving reliability.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, most generator installation projects take about 4-6 weeks from start to finish. This timeline includes time for local permit reviews, utility company coordination, and actual installation. Historic district approvals or upgrades to backup power systems may extend the process. Weather-related delays, such as winter freezes or rocky soil, are also common, but inspections are usually completed promptly.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, even minor rodent damage to wiring—common near arroyos—or small cracks in a concrete pad from freeze-thaw cycles can escalate quickly. If you notice intermittent power during spring windstorms or odd smells near propane backup systems, act promptly. These local warning signs often precede major generator repairs, especially given Santa Fe’s unique climate and wildlife challenges.

Helpful?

Santa Fe’s high elevation and swift weather changes directly affect generator installation. Winter ground freezes can delay trenching, while summer monsoons may cause muddy conditions around your home. Installers often recommend UV-resistant enclosures to withstand intense sun and adjust generator settings for altitude to ensure optimal backup power. Scheduling projects outside wildfire restriction periods helps avoid unnecessary delays.
