"Pepe is wonderful! He's friendly, fair, honest, and reliable. Performs excellent quality work for a reasonable price, and provides free estimates and diagnostics! That alone will save you $375 - what most other plumbing companies around Santa Fe charge. He replaced my old, broken combi boiler in a timely, efficient manner, and was a pleasure to work with. He'll definitely be my go-to for all plumbing and HVAC repairs in the future."

"José Castillo has the technical knowledge and skills to design and install the most advanced and efficient HVAC systems. His fine craftsmanship, straightforward communication and customer service abilities are a welcome bonus. His prices are fair and extremely competitive. José delivered and installed our heat pump HVAC system on time and worked with us to fit it perfectly to our 100 year old adobe house. We recommend JBC unreservedly. If José says he can do your job, he will do it well you will be very satisfied."

"We own a home-based business which relies heavily on our computers operating efficiently. We have had a service contract with another computer repair business for several years. Recently when we were having problems with our computers, we tried contacting our service contractor multiple times. He never responded. Feeling frustrated, I contacted James at North Alabama Technical Services and explained our situation. He instantly came to our rescue. He "cleaned-up" our computers and took care of all the problems we were experiencing. He went above and beyond to help us in our dire time of need. We would strongly recommend James and his company for computer service needs. We have now retained him on a service contract and are looking forward to working with him in the future."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

To figure out if your boiler is worth repairing or if you need to replace your boiler, first figure out how old the unit is. Boilers last 15 to 20 years, so if your unit is 15 years old or older, it may be better to replace the entire thing depending on the severity of the problems. If it’s not quite that old, then it’s probably worth repairing. Another thing to consider is whether your warranty covers any of the repair costs. If so, it may be worthwhile to repair your boiler to keep it running.

Installation costs range from $4,000 to $12,000, depending on unit size, efficiency rating, and labor.

You can use a boiler and a furnace, although it’s not common to use both for whole-house heating. For example, your furnace may take care of HVAC heating through your vents, while a boiler powers your floor-based radiant heating in the bathrooms. Mixing and matching like this gives homeowners a variety of heating possibilities.

The average lifespan of a boiler is typically between 15 and 20 years, though some may last for as little as 10 years while others can reach 30. A boiler's longevity is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the unit, proper installation, and consistent professional maintenance.

The material also plays a significant role. Older boilers made from durable cast iron can last for over 20 years, with some functioning for up to 50 years. However, it's important to consider their lower efficiency, which can lead to higher utility bills. Modern boilers, often made from steel alloys, are designed to withstand high pressure and temperatures and have an average lifespan of about 20 years.

To maximize your boiler's lifespan, ensure it is installed correctly, have it professionally maintained each year, and address any necessary repairs immediately.

Installing a boiler requires training, a specific skill set, and extensive experience. Boiler installation can be extremely dangerous, as it involves working with water lines, gas lines, and electricity. For this reason, it’s strongly recommended that you hire a professional to install your boiler. Some states even consider it illegal to work on a boiler without the proper licensing.
