"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"DC LLC/Chris McDaniel did an outstanding job for NNMC's El Rito Campus. They pulled electricity to our greenhouse and installed irrigation systems at both the greenhouse and our rain gardens. From start to finish, their work was top-notch ? knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. What really set them apart was how well they worked with our facilities team and how they kept communication open throughout the entire project. Chris genuinely cares about the quality of his work and it shows. They were helpful, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend DC LLC for anyone looking for a reliable, skilled contractor. We couldn't have asked for a better experience."

"Reliable removed old HVAC and installed new. Estimate ran over by $500 due to bringing electrical up to code. The estimate was for three days, it took four because heater unit was a day late. All the people were very professional."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Establish a seasonal electrical inspection routine in Los Alamos by checking outdoor outlets and panels for winter damage each spring, and testing surge protectors before summer storms. In fall, inspect heating system wiring and ensure smoke detectors are functional. During winter, monitor electrical panels for signs of overload, especially at higher altitudes where equipment may be stressed, and schedule professional inspections during milder weather.

Helpful?

In Los Alamos, homeowners are prioritizing smart home automation, solar panel integration, and battery storage to maximize energy efficiency. Upgrades like whole-house LED lighting, under-cabinet fixtures, and landscape illumination are trending. Many are also installing EV charging stations and upgrading panels to support high-demand appliances, reflecting a focus on electrical safety, sustainability, and resilience during frequent power fluctuations.

Helpful?

To enhance electrical safety for families in Los Alamos, use tamper-resistant outlets and install GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, and garages. Place electrical panels in locked or elevated areas to keep them away from children. Consider using weatherproof, wildlife-resistant covers outdoors. Ensure proper grounding, as the dry climate can increase static risks, and add surge protection to safeguard devices during local outages.

Helpful?

When reviewing quotes in Los Alamos, be cautious of bids that are unusually low, lack clear written details, or require immediate payment. Avoid professionals who skip on-site evaluations or cannot explain the project scope. Ensure your contractor is familiar with local electrical codes, understands the unique challenges of high-altitude installations, and has experience working on historic homes common in the area for reliable, safe results.

Helpful?

Combining electrical work with other home upgrades in Los Alamos is often beneficial, especially for older homes. Coordinating electrical panel upgrades or rewiring with kitchen or HVAC renovations can help reduce permit complexity and minimize disruption. This approach also streamlines inspections and makes it easier to address altitude-related electrical safety concerns, ensuring your home meets current standards while saving time on project scheduling.
