"Tim and his crew were wonderful to work with! In March Tim came out to our new house and measured twice. On installation day, he and his crew worked efficiently to build the frames and install the shutters. He even made a bypass door for our slider. Everything came out beautifully! We have had absolutely no problems and are enjoying our new shutters. Price was competitive with others we contacted but so glad we decided on this company. Highly recommend."

"Ruele did a terrific job replacing the stucco on our home and our casita. Their crew is great - very professional, competent, friendly and considerate. I really appreciated the thorough and careful way they approached their work and their attention to detail. I would highly recommend Ruele."

"This is a first class operation. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by one of the owners, Phil. They did the work quickly and professionally. I've had several windows tinted over the years, and the quality here was outstanding. I've recommended them to other people.

"A few weeks ago, I called Philip to schedule an appt. for the deck, patio, dog house work estimate.  He arrived right on time to review our needed work.  A few days later he Emailed a work estimate, after I sent him an Email to remind him that we were still waiting for a quote.  We then set up a date for the work to begin.  On the work day, Philip & his workers arrived about an hour later than scheduled, which wasn't a problem.  They worked hard for about 4 1/2 hours and then returned the following day for a few hours to finish the jobs.  The deck looks wonderful.  Philip even picked up a different paint to stain the new sections of the deck so that the new planks would match the old deck.  The drainage holes for the ponds will work well.  The dog house is perfect and beautifully built.  My only complaint is with the patio work.  The patio work was done well in some sections, like on the walkways, but was sloppy on the main backyard patio.  The patio work on the 2nd day, toward the end of the job, was the sloppiest.  I had a lot of cleanup to do after the patio work was completed.  I had to hose down & sweep the patio as well as the patio furniture/barbecue and clean the lower house windows.  I even had to hose down our driveway and wind up the front yard hose after the men had left. I am  pleased with the majority of the work and will hire Philip in the future, but I will make certain that the clean up is done properly before paying the final bill.

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.
