Del Val Electric is your premier electrician in NJ. We specialize in all types of electrical installations. We look forward to working together with you on your home.

"Eddie owner of Del Val Electric is a crook and unprofessional he was contracted to do several jobs at my home to Repair an outside light post, Repair electrical outlets and light in sunroom, and basement, install chandelier reciprocal and sconces and install cable wiring, plus install three doorbells and Door chime. The contracted price was $2500 he did less than half the work was paid in full and changed the parameters of the contract to time spent which was never discussed. He promised to complete the job and did not he cancelled 5 appointments to finish the job and when I complained he told me to go F%$# myself. My mistake was to trust this individual and pay him in full, I will need now to take him to small claims court for a partial refund. Do not use this contractor you have been warned!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

There are a few reasons your lights may be on, but the rest of your electrical outlets and appliances are not working. The first is that while one circuit blew out, the lights may be on another circuit than your other electrical fixtures. Alternatively, your powerless appliances may be plugged into a GFCI outlet that was tripped and needs to be reset. If these issues aren’t responsible for the problem, you may have dead outlets or a wiring issue. Either way, you should contact an electrician to identify and fix the issue.

Services by electricians can quickly get expensive, but there are a few ways you can save money in the process:

  • Bundle multiple jobs done at the same time to save on trip fees or flat fees for individual projects.

  • Get at least three quotes for service to find the best deal.

  • Buy fixtures, switches, outlets, and other materials beforehand to avoid product markup.

  • If you feel comfortable with it, have an apprentice or journeyman complete the work under the supervision of a master electrician. These electricians in training tend to charge less per project.

Pendant lights are very versatile, and you can almost always find one with your preferred style that accepts your preferred bulb. Today, many fixtures use LED bulbs, though it’s still completely possible to find one that uses halogen, fluorescent, or even old-school incandescent bulbs. The manual that comes with your light should tell what types of bulbs you can use with it.

You should install a 25-amp breaker for your outdoor electrical outlet. If your outlet is only for use in an outdoor kitchen area for standard appliances, then a 15- to 20-amp circuit breaker should work. However, you will need to install a GFCI receptacle or breaker to ensure that the breaker trips on contact with water.

The purpose of pigtail wiring is to connect multiple wires to a single terminal on a device. Pigtailing involves splicing a short length of wire, called a pigtail, into the multiple wires that need to be connected. The pigtail wire is then connected to the single terminal on the device, allowing all of the wires to be connected at once. This practice helps to simplify the wiring process, reduce clutter, and ensure a secure and reliable electrical connection.
