"First the cons: NONE

Pros:  Solids A grade on all levels.
1) The owner Immediately responded to my request for an estimate and provided his cell for phone or text communications.
2)  Met me on my requested date and time, showing up a several minutes early.
3) Provided a no pressure suggestion on what I needed, using new brand name manufacturer, and completely accommodated my short timeline.
4) Gave a rough verbal quote followed by a written one without surprises.
5) Worked together to find a date that worked for the install, never changed, and showed up as promised, on time too.
6) Ali and his two employees were professional, clean, neat, hardworking, and always willing to answer questions.
7) Accommodated  non standard HVAC line closure color to blend perfectly with the home; no up charge or pushback.
8) Placed all furniture back, completely cleaned up, tested and reviewed system.

Summary: Strongly recommend to anyone needing HVAC service or install.  Other Angie's List providers were good, however MSD was the most attentive, adaptable and straight forward. "

"I had a great experience with this company installing my new boiler. Their pricing was fair compared to other estimates I received. Dave walked me through the entire process and answered all my questions, and his team came in and did a great job with the installation. With so many scammers out there, I truly felt comfortable working with this company and will absolutely use them again in the future."

"Tom did an incredible job. We had no heat and no hot water with freezing temperatures outside. We were told by other companies that the boiler was beyond repair and had quotes from $16,000-$21,000. When I told Tom I was told the boiler could not be repaired, he insisted on seeing it for his own evaluation. He came in on a weekend and fixed it for a completely reasonable and affordable price, saving us over $15,000! Best of all our heat and hot water are both back and the house is once again warm and toasty! We are saving his number and will hire him again without hesitation. He is honest, reliable and trustworthy."

"After contracting the installation, the company performed 2 walkthroughs to determine the BEST way to complete the installation. They determine the installation would take two days. The installation crew arrived early on both days. The installers and their work were neat and clean. They cleaned up after the installation, including vacuuming in the house. Dave, the chief installer, treated our house as if it was his. The equipment works as advertised. We could not be more satisfied with the work. From the first meeting to the last equipment check, VERY professional. The pictures show the compressor installed on the roof attached to the chimney, and the main inside unit installed between two windows."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Depending on the size of your home and system, as well as any upgrades or add-ons you choose, it may take between three and five days to completely replace an existing HVAC system from start to finish. Your contractor should be able to give you an estimate before they begin the actual replacement.

Yes, you can build a sunroom addition to your home despite living in a cold climate. Make sure to use high-quality insulation and windows and to supplement with sufficient heating from your HVAC system. The windows in the sunroom allow enough natural light into the room to help heat it most times without having to use the furnace. Even a small electric fireplace can heat the sunroom well enough.

Scale from hard water is hard to diagnose until it starts causing problems. If your area has particularly hard water, that’s most likely what your boiler is using. If scale build-up becomes a problem, it starts to cause decreased flow and heating, and eventually, valve failures as valves become blocked. Let boiler professionals know if you’re worried about scale and they can offer advice or implement a solution.

One of the easiest ways to determine which type of furnace will work best for your home is to contact a professional in your area. Many HVAC companies offer free consultations to help potential customers determine if they need a new system and which type would work best for their home and the community’s climate.

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.
