"I called Mehmet based on the Angie's list recommendation and the terrific reviews. Mehmet worked around my work schedule and came after 5. He identified the problem and installed a new capasitor. He was in and out of here in 30 mins. A week earlier a rip/off big company (Varsity) claimed the unit could not be fixed for under $3500 and recommended I install a whole new system for $11,000. Mehmet's skill, reasonable price and honesty were well appreciated here."

"I had a great experience with this company installing my new boiler. Their pricing was fair compared to other estimates I received. Dave walked me through the entire process and answered all my questions, and his team came in and did a great job with the installation. With so many scammers out there, I truly felt comfortable working with this company and will absolutely use them again in the future."

"2 Days from a major freeze and storm my old boiler failed - Tom came within a half hour and gave me a quote for replacement. I gave the ok and 40 minutes later the new boiler and components were deliivered and an hour after that they began the job -finishing the next morning. New boiler installed and finally heat, just ahead of the teen digit weather. I was very impressed with the quality of work, the guys were great. I highly recommend"

"I had two service techs from Speer come out. The first took a look at my 1951 boiler and told me flat-out that he didn't know enough about a system that age to help. He said he didn't want to charge me and waste my time without being able to offer qualified service, which I very much appreciate. He called his supervisor and they scheduled a second appointment, two weeks later, with a tech who was more familiar with older systems. Two weeks later, another technician came, and he clearly knew what he was doing and was very polite and professional. He was patient with me, and all my questions and he spent time to look at my boiler, my (also 1951) driveway snow melt system, and my AC handler in the attic. Ultimately, the service he did amounted to vacuuming out my boiler, checking the burners and pilot (which all worked fine and didn't require service or replacement), checking my AC filter and explaining how the snow melt system was supposed to work and why it didn't. No actual repairs were performed, no parts replaced. The bill came to just north of $300. I had originally been quoted $96 for a check up. I was charged an hourly labor rate on top of the $96 fee which was roughly $100/hr, billing for two hours, since he was on site for about 90 minutes. Much of that time was my fault for asking a million questions, and his expertise was certainly valuable and as I said, he was super patient with me (possibly because he knew he was billing me $100/hr to ask him a million dumb questions). I don't feel like I was ripped off, or lied to, but I do feel like advertising a $96 "check up" that ends up cost 3x that is a little deceptive. I was very happy with the quality of the service and I think Speer is a quality company to do this kind of work. Just be sure that when you are booking the service call you are very clear about finding out how much it will cost."

"Nick and the team were working hard for 2 days trying to install the boiler and route all the pipes in a very tight space. After two days we got a new boiler which hopefully will last long. 5 years worry-free warranty from Valairco is another reason I went with this company."

"Found some water in the basement and was having some slow water drainage issues. I called up Good Tidings late in the day and Kelly was helpful and communicative in terms of expectations for service. She kept me updated throughout the afternoon in regards to availability of a service person to come out to our home. Steve arrived promptly and in the expected time frame provided. We went over the issues our home was experiencing and he clearly communicated the anticipated issue, explained the service to remedy the issue and clearly went over pricing options. He didn't push/oversell, which I appreciated, and based our favorable rapport, I also had our boiler serviced, which was handled by Matt. Both guys were great, personable, and quick with their service. We'll definitely use Good Tidings again."

"Mo was a very able, responsive and professional technician who installed our furnace in one day and our new boiler two days later. He patiently answered my many questions, walked me through why we needed two new units (instead of repairing our old ones) and worked well and efficiently. It was painful to have to pay that much money at once for a furnace and a boiler, but Mo made it as positive an experience as it could have been. I am grateful to him and his assistant for their work and professionalism."

"7/30/19 contacted Home Advisor for a plumber referral because plumber we were using could not resolve the issue. Tom Brady called within five minutes of me submitting the inquiry. I forwarded information regarding the air switch error code, so he could research the issue for our condensing boiler. He followed up with NTIs Tech Support to fully understand the error code and possible solutions. We set up an appointment for 8/8 for him to assess the system. The first thing he did was check the air intake for obstruction and found a honeycomb nest. The previous plumber said there was no need to check the intake so never checked. He assessed the system, identified parts to be replaced, and set up an appointment to return to install parts and recharge the system with glycol anti-freeze which the previous plumber did not do. 8/21- Tom returned, installed parts, checked and adjusted the CO2 (which the previous plumber could not do because he did not have the tool), recharged the system, and advised our 15-year-old boiler was in good shape and did not need to be replaced. This was a relief given the previous plumber suggested it did need to be replaced. We are thrilled with Toms service and highly recommend him. He is thorough in his research and demonstrated he is a highly skilled plumber in analyzing/repairing our system. Since he completed the work we have on-demand hot water every time we called for it."

"Dean from Green Apple arrived promptly and started work immediately.  He finished inspecting the 2 gas furnaces then came upstairs to the 2nd floor and installed a programable thermostat and inspected 2 steam radiators which were not working properly.  He then swapped out the release valves for adjustable valves.  After checking that the thermostat worked correctly, he left.  Very professional job.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

You should get anywhere from three to five quotes for HVAC replacement to get an idea of the average cost of a new unit. Although this quote-collecting process can be time consuming, it allows you to compare what work is required, what type of unit you should install, and how much you should expect to pay for the service.

Depending on the size of your home and system, as well as any upgrades or add-ons you choose, it may take between three and five days to completely replace an existing HVAC system from start to finish. Your contractor should be able to give you an estimate before they begin the actual replacement.

A furnace takes in cool air, heats it through the burner and heat exchanger, and sends the air on its way to warm your home. A boiler is a pressurized vessel that produces hot water or steam to heat the home and provide hot water. A boiler may or may not work together with a furnace.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.
