He could do everything I wanted and more. The first job was having his friend do the roof and the gutters. He did a fine job - he was very professional and the roof came out great. In fact, I couldn't figure out why my smoke detector on the second floor was leaking water - and he came to figure it out - went all over the roof and into my attic - and saw that my air conditioning condensation tray was directly over the smoke detector so it leaked into it. He said it would probably never happen again. I will look for the name of the roofer and post a stellar review - just couldn't find it to post it for this loser. The basement was done OK with the exception of the carpeting. The installer he used banged up the paint job during his job. When I vacuumed the stairs for the first time, ( I'm not proud - but it was not until May since I do not use the basement at this time) a loose fiber got sucked into the vacuum and 2 inches of the padding became exposed because the installation was faulty. The carpet just unravelled!!! I requested the name of the installer so I could contact him directly but Peter Fox refused. I did all of the spackling and repairs to the interior walls to save on expense. I was charged over 3000.00 for painting one coat for three rooms along with a cathedral ceiling.. which would have been OK except the ceiling was never painted. I had to call Peter out on it to get them to paint the ceiling. Also - one coat was not enough - and if I did not insist on a 2nd - Peter Fox would have left it looking like crap. Being ripped off for the electrical work that his electrician was supposed to do is what pushed me over the edge. His electrician spent about two hours at my property and subcontracted other work out to his friend - whom I don't know - however I was billed two thousand dollars for the installation of 3 basic ceiling fixtures and two bathroom fans. Pete used substandard wood for the deck, causing many boards to warp and separate from the floor and the railings. He used wood putty extensively which made the railings have unsightly bumps, dark spots and light spots. Every post used next to a gate developed gaping splits down the middle of each one. It was unbelievable. I forwarded Peter photos of the poor workmanship that I had paid top dollar for - but he was not interested. I paid a carpenter almost 500.00 for repairs last summer just so I could stain the rest of the deck. The leak from the dormer had obviously been going on for a while because we noticed some bubbling and cracking of the paint on the living room ceiling directly below the dormer. Checking the crawl space next to the dormer, I saw that water was coming in from a higher point on the side of the dormer and making its way down the side of a beam. The leak from the air vent presented itself during a severe rain storm when I heard a steady dripping sound coming from the hallway at 1am. I called several roofers and received a variety of solutions and pricing, and was then referred to Powell?s by a member of my family. Not only was Gary professional and personable on the telephone and in person, he was prompt and extremely easy to talk to. He offered suggestions on repairs, answered all my questions and provided a fair estimate of the cost. Taking into account customer recommendations and the fact that my house already has a second layer of shingles on it, I decided to ask him for a price on replacing the entire roof to hopefully reduce the probability of future leaks. Again, he provided a fair estimate of the cost, explained the process for installation, the warranty information and answered all of my questions. Since we were experiencing a lot of rain during this time, he provided a quick installation date of just a few days later, and in the meantime offered to put a tarp over the roof where the leaks were, which he had his crew do the very next day. On installation day they showed up promptly and began work immediately. While pulling off all the shingles, he discovered that there was actually a third leak that I wasn?t aware of, so it turned out that replacing the entire roof was the right way to go. The crew worked quickly and the job took one full day and a few hours the next day. They cleaned up everything afterwards and there was absolutely no debris remaining and you would never have even known they had been there. Since the new roof was put on, we've been through Hurricane Sandy in October, an early fall snowstorm in November, and numerous days of high winds, snow/ice and heavy downpours throughout the last few months. The roof is exactly as it was the day it was installed, and I couldn?t be happier with the work that was done or the cost. It was definitely worth it and I highly recommend Powell?s Roofing.

Every man worked quickly, efficiently and with a good attitude, installing a first-rate waterproofing system in my large basement in just one day while doing everything to avoid disruption. I was especially impressed that Giovanni showed initiative and practicality by rerouting the discharge for two powerful new sump pumps (previously, water discharged into my side yard, creating a bog for much of the year). He also removed a damaged 40s-vintage concrete and zinc laundry sink that I'd been wondering how to get rid of (it weighed a TON). FAQs for basement leak repair projects in New Providence, NJ
The cost to finish a basement is $18,400 for the average homeowner. However, this cost could be as little as $2,800 or as much as $34,500, depending on the basement size and the materials needed. If your basement is already outfitted with electrical and plumbing, expect the cost to fall on the lower end.
For example, the drywall cost for this project averages around $1,750, but other features, like hiring a plumber, cost between $45 and $200 per hour.
The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.
If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.
Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.
Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.
Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.
The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.
If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
