"Very professional company. Job completed as estimated. Left my home spotless unlike other AC repairs I have had. They are respectful of the customer's home. This is a top notch company. Polite, competent, prompt and reasonable. My AC is running quietly and more energy efficiently than it ever has."

"Our 4 year old central air conditioner was blowing out warm air. We called Ryan & Co. to come out and perform routine maintenance in the hope that normal maintenance and a tune up would return it to normal working condition. Brian performed the service and checked the air temperature when he was finished. It turned out there was something else going on with it and he surmised there must be a slow leak in the line as he determined we were low or out of refrigerant. We rescheduled to have him come out and test the lines in order to locate the leak. After pressurizing the system, it was determined the coil and compressor had gone bad and the condenser unit would need to be replaced. Ryan & Co., even though they were not a registered dealer of the type of air conditioner I had went the extra mile to get registered with a distributor and assisted me as I went through the warranty process. The warranty on labor had expired and we were only able to recoup some of the cost of a new unit, but that had nothing to do with Ryan & Co. When the new condenser unit showed up they brought it over and got it installed in a timely manner. We have a cool house once again. I want to thank them for their efforts and for their assistance. I would use them again.

"Work done was good....no complaints. What I don't like about Pipe Works is that the people who come to do the job, try to sell you on other services that you don't need. This time, I was offered a new soft water heater for $2500. He didn't even want to look at the current one to see what might be fixed. I called Culligan, the unit was repaired for 1/3 of that amount and works fine."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Your central A/C unit should be professionally serviced and inspected at least once a year to ensure it operates properly and efficiently. This is best done before the peak cooling season. A full-service inspection by a qualified pro will typically include checking safety components for issues like carbon monoxide leaks, verifying cooling components and coolant levels, and inspecting electrical parts like fuses and wiring. Regular servicing enhances efficiency, mitigates potential problems, and maintains optimal performance. Because AC systems contain hazardous refrigerant, professional handling is essential.

Water buildup in your HVAC system is a cause for alarm. If water accumulates in your ductwork, it can drastically lower your home's air quality and create safety hazards. These risks include mold growth, damage to your HVAC system, and attracting pests that are seeking water into your ducts. Proper insulation and sealing of ducts can prevent this, and regular inspection and maintenance can address water damage problems before they become too severe.

Yes, but they don’t feel the same as an AC-cooled room. You’ll feel cool, moist air, opposite from an HVAC system that dries the air as it cools. Ventless units also have less tonnage than alternatives like ductless and central air, which means they aren’t as capable of quickly cooling large spaces or circulating cold air.

No. Evaporator coils are designed to work with specific refrigerant types, and they are rated by what kinds of refrigerant they use. It’s indicated with an “R” code. It’s important to match your evaporator coil and refrigerant or your system will not work properly. An AC technician can tell you what type of refrigerant your system needs and what evaporator coils will work with it.

It depends on the specifics of your warranty. The motor is likely not covered if you’re working with a limited warranty. The same goes for other components like the compressor and evaporator coil. Some extended warranties will cover the blower and fan motor, so read the fine print before signing up. Additionally, the manufacturer may offer a warranty for the parts, including the motor, though there’s likely to be a strict time limit for this coverage.
