"Dave from DM was excellent to work with. He was timely, professional, proactive and transparent. Once Dave diagnosed my hvac issues he thoroughly reviewed my different options.....including pricing, recommendations and timing to complete the job. Dave didn t try to sell me nice to haves ... but did take the time to explain all the pros and cons. In the end I have a family member who is in the biz .... and also knew my hvac unit. My cousin corroborated all of Dave s recommendations including the final cost of the job. No Issues!!!!! If I could have given more than 5 stars to reflect my overall user experience, I would have."

"I actually had 2 systems installed. The main HVAC system for the 1st floor and a 3 zone ductless system upstairs. They were done in one day, very professional and cleaned up afterward. They were more than competitive in price and it was a pleasure doing business with them. J G., Phillipsburg NJ"

"The technician was very professional and was able to answer many of my questions about the condition of my HVAC system that I inherited and its probable lifetime. I sensed that he was being honest and straightforward. Rather than accept his extensive list of possible replacement parts, I opted to have him install the one that he believed to be the most urgent- the capacitor. So far the unit seems to be functioning well."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yesh, heat pumps can easily cool homes when the weather reaches over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, just as powerful air conditioners can. The key is sizing the heat pump correctly for the size of your home and your climate. A local heat  pump professional can help you determine the right size and type for your home.

A dual evaporator coil is a specific design that allows the AC system to cool different compartments at different levels. It’s usually seen in refrigerators and similar appliances, but not in whole-house air conditioning systems. Talk with your AC technician about the best uses for a dual evaporator coil.

The difference between a home surge protector and an HVAC surge protector is that an HVAC surge protector is designed to protect the components inside your HVAC unit while a home surge protector is installed near appliances and meant to protect your entire home. There are three tiers of whole-house surge protectors, and they are more expensive to install than HVAC surge protectors.

You can buy a new AC capacitor through most big-box home improvement stores, from an HVAC contractor, or from the manufacturer. Use the model number of your air conditioning unit to make sure you purchase the right part for your unit. Also, keep in mind that the cost of this type of part can vary significantly depending on who you purchase it from, so shop around to get the best price.

It’s critical to use the right size AC for your space and not go too small or too big. If you purchase an undersized unit, it won’t properly cool your house, and it has to work harder to reach the optimal temperature. This will eventually wear your unit out. An oversized unit can spell trouble because it will turn off and on more frequently, which also wears out your AC unit. An oversized unit also causes humidity in the home.
