"I can’t believe the transformation! My old, stained bathtub now looks like it just came out of a showroom. Supreme Bath Refinishing did an amazing job, and the finish is so smooth and glossy. They saved me thousands compared to replacing the tub. Highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a fresh upgrade!"

"The work was done in a professional manner. Misael is fair, honest and incredibly neat. He and I discussed what I wanted and he found the best match for the replacements. They were installed carefully. He came at the time we agreed upon, and the price was very fair. I had tried one company that wanted more than I thought was fair. Turns out I was right since Misael did the job for around $2000 less than they wanted for just the shower replacement. I will be having him back again after the holidays to do some other work I need done."

"Everyone at Kitchen Magic was professional and extremely helpful throughout the entire refacing process. The sales rep recommended adding elements that made the design even more functional and attractive. Ziggy performed the work and did an amazing job! He was on time every day and left my kitchen clean and neat every night. He has an incredible eye for detail and did flawless work. One of the cabinet doors came nicked. Kitchen Magic quickly sent a replacement door and another installer out to hang it for me. Overall, it was a stress-free process, and I’m very pleased with how my cabinets look now."

"We interviewed many contractors before settling on BAS Construction. Sina and Ali are both easy to talk to and to work with. We first hired them to replace some windows in the front of our house. They were at the house every day until the job was done even during extreme cold temperatures. They are currently working on replacing more windows and redesigning the dormers. The next project will be for them to redo our front walk, patio and front door. They are reliable, meticulous and honest. We have a lot more work to be done on our home and would not hesitate to use them for future projects."

"My experience can be summed up in a simple sentence - You get what you pay for.  Basic Basement was by far the lowest priced contractor we had by more than half.  We were getting estimates to refinish our basement in the 40-50K range.  All we wanted was some walls and floors and Basic Basement provides just that.  They make money on volume.  They have an odd system where the on-site project manager very rarely interacted with us.  Any instructions were given directly to the workers before we left for work or through Gail, the woman who worked in the office.  Gail was great and very responsive and certainly the best part of the process.  However, it created some difficulties with communication where any instructions or issues that occurred had to go through Gail who then had contacted the project manager to physically come to the worksite.
They also seemed to have an issue with the jobsite debris removal.  Almost every time they filled up bags of trash I had to request that they get taken away.  Everything was eventually picked up, but it was perplexing why I had to request it every time.  My other gripe is that the scheduling was rather spread out.  I don't think there was a week where the crew was there all 5 days.  Things were spread out over 2 months.
They do not do flooring for some reason, and they recommended that they do not paint because it would cost too much.  The finer details that are laid out in the contract were never reviewed before or during the job, so we ended up with confusion in drywall coverage and a stair railing that was re-used instead of replaced (which I will have to do by myself later).  The finish work that was done (trim, baseboards, etc.) was only OK.  Miters should have been glued to fill in the cracks and, because there was no flooring done, I will have to attach the baseboard myself.
Overall, it is what it is - you get what you pay for.  If you are not opposed to doing some work yourself and are content with just the basics, then I would recommend Basic Basement.  Gail was great and the price was very fair.  If you are looking for a hands-off, turn-key solution, then you will have to pay more for a contractor offering more complete services.  My rating is a B because even though the quality was on par with the price, the scheduling and the contract detail oversights were slightly disappointing.

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Whether converting a tub to a shower is worth it depends on your personal circumstances and priorities. For many, a shower is a safer option that reduces the risk of slip-and-fall accidents, making it a valuable upgrade. It can also be a worthwhile conversion if a shower is more practical for your lifestyle and you rarely use the tub. However, there are potential downsides to consider. The cost, which can range from $1,200 to $8,000, can be a deterrent. Additionally, if you have young children, a bathtub is often easier for bathing them. Finally, removing the only bathtub in a home can potentially lower its resale value in the eyes of some buyers.

While tubs are fairly sturdy, you may notice cracks or holes. This kind of damage can happen from someone accidentally dropping something heavy into the tub. You might also see damage if you drop something heavy into the tub over and over again (like your extra large bottle of body wash). While you might only notice a small dent at first, this can later turn into a crack or a hole.

Also, certain cleaners that are harmful to your tub can cause damage. And if you have a fiberglass tub, you might see cracks if it was not installed properly with the right support.

If you love long soaks, appreciate spa-style decor, and don't mind the extra space, a Roman tub is a beautiful addition to your bathroom.

Fiberglass tubs last between 10 and 15 years or more if they’re well-maintained. Proper care will help them last as long as possible. However, fiberglass bathtubs are prone to cracking, fading, and scratches over time. Bathtub installation by a plumber is one of the best ways to ensure your tub has the right support to last its full lifespan.

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.
