"I called Ralph on Sunday as pipe broke under kitchen sink. I sent him video of the problem and we set appointment for Monday as he was able to squeeze me in on short notice. Ralph and his assistant, Peter came and Ralph gave me an estimate of the job. I said go ahead. Ralph and Peter did the following: Removed and replace drain waste line, dishwasher tail piece and new stainless steel basket strainer, new nuts and washer for connections. They ran water multiple times to test the system. Ralph was not happy with one of the connections, even though no water was leaking. He just did not feel right about it as if it was his own home and replaced the connection again. It's nice to see someone who takes so much pride in his work and will not finish the job until he is satisfied that it was done right. Will definitely hire again."

"I hired them for a furnace maintenance check for a great price. They changed my filter and disconnected my electric one informing me it was no longer in use. Added glue to pvc drain pipe that was loose, cleaned the flame sensor, measured voltage of circuits. Recently, as the weather got colder and the furnace started running I noticed a puddle coming from underneath it. I spent quite some time trying to diagnose it myself but couldn't figure it out. I explained to the company that I started having issues with the furnace after my last check. They sent Frank out to look at the issue. He was able to identify the issue pretty quickly and it was pretty simple. It was due to a loose drain pipe inside the unit. He simply reattached it. I was not charged as it was possible the pipe got loose (it was not well sealed) during the maintenance check. I was extremely grateful with the way Frank and Arctic Air Conditioning conducted business. I am wary of vendors who try to exploit you but I do not feel that way at all towards Arctic Air. I feel I can trust them with my business again in the future."

"This was a longstanding leak worked by several contractors over the years. AJT said sensible things and did sensible things and, knock on wood, it's finally fixed. I've had half a dozen people out on it over the years. The leak was in a second floor kitchen, under a dormer for a third floor kitchen. AJT came out and said they need to send a crew out to spray water on the roof and see if it would leak. First people to offer that. No joy, no charge. Just before Christmas 2018 we got a 24 hour rainstorm that was enough to get the roof leaking. They came back, poked a hole in the second floor ceiling, poked a hole in the third floor kitchen wall and found water leaking through the wall from the roof over the third floor and through to the second. No sign on the third floor. They installed an new roof on the 6x10 foot flat roof on the third floor dormer. Said the old roof was too short (it may have shrunk, predates my time owning the house). Came through the latest storm without a problem. Thoroughly impressed by how clean the second floor kitchen was after they had to take a load of cellulose insulation in the face opening the ceiling."

It turned out that the "French drains" were a trench at the edges of the basement and a sump pump. The drains were not piped to the sump pump. We had Arid install real French drains with pipe to the sump pump well. Thus was in 2005 and we have not had any water in the basement since. Pat explained the job well and his team performed it quickly. They cleaned up well afterwards. The pump finally gave out last night (after almost 12 years). Arid is going to install new one on Friday."

We interviewed 5 businesses before selecting American A-1, as they were the only ones who came up with a solution for our problem. Through the whole process they were responsive and professional. The team that came and did the work was also great. They were on time, finished on schedule, were courteous and professional. They did a great job. I had some questions afterwards and Lou was always available to answer them. Most importantly the work was completed several months ago and we haven't had water in the basement since. The price was very fair. i would hire them again in a second."

With the storm bearing down, Mikey drove all the way to South Jersey at 5am to pick up a specific brand of boiler, then after working all day, Sam and the crew had our heat turned back on that night, and they left the space cleaner than when they got there. They suggested a design change to run the baseboard heaters in the newer part of the house and came back separately to install the new hot water loop. Emma back at the office was super helpful and responsive to all our questions throughout."
