"They came in with their team and went right to work. Only a portion of the basement needed to be waterproofed. They drilled out a 10-inch wide portion of the concrete floor, put stones, pipe, more stones and re-concreted that portion of the floor. Painted that wall with waterproof paint leaving me the rest of the painting to do (my choice). Drilled a hole at the bottom of each cinderblock which drained into a grey baseboard material which then drained into the pipe and flowed into the sump pump. Replaced the old basement window and placed concrete around it. Installed a sump pump, placed the pipe through the wall, placing the water exit pipe into a flower bed. Adding a circuit breaker dedicated to the sump pump. They described everything they were going to do prior to the job and everything they did at the completion of the job. Also, explaining how the sump pump worked. The total cost was $4200.00. The best part they cleaned up after. Oh and before they did anything they placed plastic all around so as not to ruin anything in the basement. I did not have to lift a finger."

"For over 20 years my wife and I used another A rated Angie’s List heating and air conditioning firm and we have given them good reviews in the past. Recently our 20+ year old heater started acting up. At times throughout the day or night the burner wouldn’t ignite and we would be without heat. After seven service calls and various parts at the cost of $700.00 our old service company could not repair the heater and the problem remained unresolved. So we decided to get estimates to replace our entire HVAC system mainly due to it’s age and this unsolved problem. Vaughan Heating and Air Conditioning was on our list of acceptable companies to speak with due to their Angie’s List A rating. We called Vaughan and they sent Tony Pellegrino to our home the next day. My wife and I were very impressed with Tony. He spent over an hour at our home scoping out our basement, configuring our new system and answering our questions. Later that day we received the Vaughan estimate that Tony sent by email. I called Tony and he spent another hour on the phone addressing my questions and concerns. We received the other competitor's estimates over the next two days. We accepted the Vaughan’s estimate which was $1,100.00 more then the lowest estimate and $2,500.00 less then the highest estimate we received. Our choice was based on our comfort level with Tony, the price of the job, the longevity of the company (established in 1937) and the quality of the heating and air conditioning units that Vaughan installs. We accepted the Vaughan estimate on Saturday evening and Tony scheduled our job that coming week on Tuesday (for the heater) and Thursday (for the air conditioner). The reason for the one day in between work was because they squeezed our job into an already full week of installations and we were really pleased that they did that for us. On Tuesday morning at 8:30am the installer’s, Marcus and Jeff were at our house ready to start the job. These guys were friendly, professional, extremely competent and also very neat and clean, covering our rugs, etc. Jeff and Marcus did and exceptional job installing our new HVAC system. It’s “state of the art”! My wife and I are extremely happy with the job Vaughan Heating & Air Conditioning did and we could not be more comfortable, then we are now, in our home. "Excellent all around experience!!!!!!!! After a series of storms and gradual water soaking our basement carpet several times, I finally called Waterproofing One in April, 2017 after seeing their ad several times on our St. Basil's church bulletin. I spoke initially with the owner-Joe who was helpful and he dispatched Dave Cook who came over within an hour. Dave Cook has been in this business and related utility engineering previously for over 30 years and really knows his stuff. Dave was extremely thorough, spending time in the basement, looking at some pictures I took of the damage and spent a considerable amount of time walking around the exterior of my property and reviewing the landscaping where most problems start. Dave wrote up a report of what work was needed including extending downspouts, recommending we have our contractor add a louvered door at the top of the steps for aeration (a great idea given no windows in basement) , waterproofing the well water closet walls, spraying impacted area for potential mold, and installing a new French drain and sump-pump system with battery backup. Gene and his crew then came over on May 17, 2018 and performed the construction and installation work and did a great job. Those guys worked extremely hard in what is inherently a muddy line of work and were very courteous, professional and left the basement very clean. Gene took extra time to show us exactly what they were doing as they drilled holes into the lower cinder block walls, laying of the perforated pipe and some of the damp mold on the wooded studs he extracted at the impacted area. We paid exactly what Dave originally quoted! Dave Cook came back checked on things and made some other recommendations including adding stones around the foundation outside and in holes to avoid soil erosion and soften the acceleration of rain water into the ground. Once the work was finished and our carpenter redid the walls and painting, We had subsequently refinished the basement with high end vapor/mold resistant padding from Mohawk and a quality polyester carpet. 15 months later and here we are on September 30, 2019 after 50+ rain storms since installation and NO WATER nor Mold issues in the basement!!! We are really enjoying our basement again thanks to WATERPROOFING ONE!!!! 5-STARS!!!!!!!!"

"From the initial phone call to the completion of the job Quality 1st provided top notch professional service. A couple points which makes this easy to write. Communication is key whether in person or via telephone and Q1 was exceptional in this regard at every point. Telephone conversations with customer services was pleasant and cordial, never rushed or snotty. Paul our salesman was here for quite a while answering questions and assessing our needs in the basement. Of only was he on time for our appointment he was about 10 minutes early too. The cost of this project was a good chunk of change for us but after too many times of shop-vac’ing water we knew it was time to bite the bullet and move forward with making life a little easier and not have the issue of when will we get water in the basement again hanging over our heads. I was impressed that Quality 1st uses their own products and has their own R&D facilities. As for the installation, enough cannot be said for the crew that was here. I got the call at 9am they would be here in 20 minutes and at 9:20 they were backing in my driveway. I met the foreman Mario and his 2 helpers. We went into the basement and they looked around and asked if I had any questions. We had almost everything out of the basement and what was left they covered in plastic. By 9:50am they were running the jackhammers. We have a 1,500 sqft ranch and these guys worked all day, they didn’t stop and worked their tails off. I can’t remember exactly when the jackhammer stopped but by 2 pm the channel was dug out and they were beginning to lay out for the channel that carries the water to the sump. About 4pm Kyle showed up to assess the job and see if I had any questions or concerns. We spoke about the job and we went downstairs to see the progress. He stayed on site for about 45 minutes after making sure I was comfortable with how the job was going. By 5:15 or so the job was completely finished. Before they left Mario went over everything regarding the sump system. As far as cleanup, this is a dusty job. Concrete dust is ultra fine and they did a fantastic job of not only sweeping but they also dusted off areas which were not covered in plastic. They left no mess to speak of., I was very satisfied with their work and attention to detail. It’s easy to nitpick any job at anytime and there is nothing I would call them out on. Finally as for the functionality of the sump system I wish I had a comment on that at this time. We’ve lived in our house for 25 years and until around Thanksgiving of this year (2018) we’ve only had water about 4 times. Between Thanksgiving (2018) and New Years (2019) we got slammed 4 times and nothing since. With the symptoms of how our basement got water, I feel comfortable with the system Quality 1st installed and am confident they will stand behind their work and warranty. We’re also happy this is transferable to the next homeowner when we sell the house and it is an excellent selling point when the time comes."
