"Mark, the owner came over himself to estimate the job. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain what and why they were going to do. He also was able to give comparisons of equipment used by other companies. The front office kept me updated on tests and appointments, timely. His crew was very professional and PUNCTUAL! They took the time to remove all signs and equipment of my old water system, which they didn't have to do. Due to hard-packed dirt under my basement floor, they had to return 3 times to bring my Radon Air within EPA standards. However, the quoted price didn't change, and each time the crew was as professional as their first visit. I highly recommend Mark and US Water Consultants for your Radon Air Mitigation and any water improvements and modifications."

"I called John on a Thursday night looking for a 9AM, next day inspection of a property on auction that I needed inspected before I put my bid in. He answered my call, texted me, planned everything and was there at 9am ready to work. He gave us his immediate thoughts so that we could make an offer with good info and then sent us a super detailed report. I couldn't recommend him more. He gave us great peace of mind."

"They were the first to give us a quote and were able to come out as soon as we needed them to. Installation was smooth, and they have been good at following up to make sure the system is working. Because our radon is still slightly high, they are doing another radon test and will follow up if it comes back high yet again. We would definitely recommend them to others!"

"He was on time, arrived at 9am as quoted and began to install the system. The system required two suction points and a sump pit cover. The sump pit originally had a pedestal pump in place and none of the other radon companies would change the pedestal pump to a submersible pump as required for the mitigation system to function properly. Rhino Radon not only changed the pump but installed a back flow check valve to ensure proper functioning of the system. All of the other companies said we would have to employ a plumber or a handy man to get this done. Had we gone that route the closing would not have happened. Rhino Radon gladly did all the work required and didn't even break for lunch!!! He was more concerned with getting us out of the vacant house seeing we are already down the cape. The system that involved a crawl space and being vented through the garage roof was completed immaculately and the test results came back at 0.5 pCil/L. This pleased the lender and buyer and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Rhino Radon Services.

"Found Ward Plumbing on Angie's List and Maine's list of certified installers for radon systems. Made contact. Sales rep called immediately and set-up onsite appointment. Very knowledgeable rep conducted survey and submitted quote within 2 days. I already had experience with this specific system so knew installed price parameters. Scheduled installation. Installation completed on 4/27/2011 within 6 hrs. Had to also replace well tank which was not in original quote but necessary after testing. Very efficient, experienced and professional installation. Highly recommend this contractor."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The cost to replace a radon fan ranges from $300 to $600 for the fan itself, with installation adding an additional $200 to $500. Overall, the total cost for replacement can range from $500 to $1,100, depending on factors such as the fan model, home size, and local labor rates. If the fan is part of a larger radon mitigation system, the price may be higher.

Mitigation can take several days depending on home setup, equipment accessibility, and achieving effective diffusion system sealed efficiency.

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

Long-term exposure increases lung cancer risks. Prolonged homestay individuals and smokers encounter heightened vulnerability and exposure concerns.
