Worse than the delay was the complete lack of communication throughout the process ? getting updates or even basic responses was frustratingly difficult. "Very professional! They have done two different jobs. The first was a problem with my sewer line backing up. They found that it was full of tree roots. The plumber worked for hours cutting through the roots. It was a long, hard job and he was determined to get it cleaned out. The second job was to clean the kitchen drain. Obviously, the previous owner dumped lots of grease down the drain. It was a lot to clean out. The cost wasn't bad considering that the tree roots ended up being a day and a half project."

You can prevent pipes from bursting by taking several preventive measures. For example:

  • Keep your pipes from freezing when temperatures drop by setting your thermostat to 55 degrees or higher.

  • Open under-sink cabinets to allow warm air to flow around the pipes. 

  • Let faucets drip to keep water moving.

  • Add insulation to crawl spaces or pipes to keep them warm.

To bleed air from the pipes, start by turning off the main water supply. Then, starting with the faucet that’s closest to the water valve, open each of your faucets halfway, making sure to open both hot and cold options if they’re separate. This allows the air to escape the pipes. Once all faucets are open, turn your water supply back on and let the water run for 10 to 15 minutes until the faucets stop sputtering.
