A couple of days after receiving this estimate, my relatively new air conditioner quit blowing cold air. They told me the compressor was ruined and no longer under warranty. Estimated cost of replacement was over $2000 and they were going to have to order what they needed. I would not have air conditioning for over two weeks during a Midwest heat wave with temperatures over 100 degrees!
I called another plumbing company. This other plumber came out the very next day and worked at my house for almost four hours. The main line was severely clogged but they were able to unclog it. He ran a camera down the line and showed me that there is rust in one area of the line that is under my backyard. This will eventually need replaced but does not require digging up my basement floor. The air conditioner needed a new fuse and capacitor. Total cost for both jobs was less than $600.
I will no longer be using Independent Plumbing.
