What started as a simple routine service call under my HSP membership turned into a high-pressure sales situation. Shortly after the technician visit, a salesperson arrived and quoted me nearly $20,000 for what was described as a “top-of-the-line” system — including $2,400 for a new water heater, supposedly with HSP discounts. During the signing, the salesperson instructed me to rush through the “quality control” call and falsely confirm I had reviewed multiple system options. I was only given one option, with no effort made to provide alternatives. I have also since requested a copy of the QA recording and been completely ignored. After installation, I discovered they had left my 1990s humidifier connected to this brand-new system. I was never told this would not be replaced and was later informed I’d need to pay another $784 (and at different times $500 and $1,500) to fix it. These inconsistent and shifting quotes are deceptive. After consulting multiple licensed HVAC professionals, I confirmed the total price was $6,000–$7,000 higher than comparable systems.
