I’m sharing this publicly because I have been misled, overcharged, and repeatedly ignored by Aksarben, and after giving them every opportunity to make things right. What started as a simple routine service call under my HSP membership turned into a high-pressure sales situation. Shortly after the technician visit, a salesperson arrived and quoted me nearly $20,000 for what was described as a “top-of-the-line” system — including $2,400 for a new water heater, supposedly with HSP discounts. During the signing, the salesperson instructed me to rush through the “quality control” call and falsely confirm I had reviewed multiple system options. I was only given one option, with no effort made to provide alternatives. I have also since requested a copy of the QA recording and been completely ignored. After installation, I discovered they had left my 1990s humidifier connected to this brand-new system. I was never told this would not be replaced and was later informed I’d need to pay another $784 (and at different times $500 and $1,500) to fix it. These inconsistent and shifting quotes are deceptive. After consulting multiple licensed HVAC professionals, I confirmed the total price was $6,000–$7,000 higher than comparable systems. The equipment sold to me is not top-of-the-line by any reasonable standard. I requested an itemized breakdown of costs and have been ignored entirely. To make matters worse, the system failed inspection by MUD utilities and was declared unsafe, leaving my home without gas service, hot water, or laundry for days. Aksarben refused to honor its own 24-hour comfort guarantee and has not issued the promised $555 compensation. When I attempted to cancel the purchase within the 10-day window, both the salesperson and sales manager were “unavailable,” and I was promised callbacks that never came. Multiple texts, emails and phone calls have gone unanswered. I’ve asked for the following reasonable resolutions multiple times: 1. A partial refund reflecting the excessive overcharges. 2. Replacement of the outdated humidifier at no additional cost. 3. The $555 compensation for the failed 24-hour guarantee. Instead, I’ve received only silence and dismissive responses. At this point, I am formally filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, and other consumer protection agencies, and I am exploring legal action. This post is not an invitation for further discussion with Aksarben — it is a public statement of accountability. Homeowners deserve transparency, honesty, and respect, and my goal is to make others aware of how this company conducts business.

Ken R went above and beyond to make sure the right people came out and got the job done correctly (even sending out another tech when the first wasn’t quite on the mark). Lacking 3 stars because of the MULTIPLE phone calls required to communicate and set up appointments. Multiple no shows, local dispatch said it was miscommunication… Taking off work multiple times for miscommunication in unacceptable. Michelle would also say she would call back with updates then never does. Despite me calling her and explaining the importance of needing someone to show up at the arranged appointment and frustration of taking off work so many times.ANOTHER NO SHOW. The only phone number is for a national office who schedule appointments with clients before looking to see if those techs are even available. I would happily create a Google Sheet for this company to be able to accurately schedule appointments and get its act together. Highly recommend Southside Plumbing instead. Aksarben ARS came to my house for an annual tune-up. My heating system was working fine and we had good heating. When the technician was almost done, we heard a popping sound with a flash and my system was dead. Per the technician, the controller board was damaged due to that popping event. Now we are without heat. I am regretting the decision of why I did call for tune-up ! I am no electrician but I think the system was not put up well after it was opened for inspection. He said the event happened because the motor withdrew way too much power. How conveniently motor chose to do so !! Well, it had been working fine so far unless something was messed up during the process. Technician promised he would call me tomorrow. I will update my review after that call on the following stuff: if they take the financial responsibility of fixing the controller board, not charging me a service fee again, and how fast they fix the thin

He was polite, explained what he was doing, and gave me a little instruction in how the pipes in a century old plus home run. It took him longer to unpack and pack back up than it did to open the drain, but he cleaned up the entire work area and took all the soiled cleaning materials with him. It was very muddy outside, so kept putting on the shoe covers when he came in and took them off when he went out! Very polite, very clean, and very careful, and fast!

Our furnace had been shutting off before warming the house to the temperature set on the thermostat. There was a tag showing that Aksarben ARS had done service on the unit in the past so I had them come out.  The technician, Michael, told me the primary heat exchanger was faulty and recommended more than $4000 in repairs. The furnace had “the potential to become hazardous, of leaking the products of combustion or flame roll out”. He had a second technician, Eric, come out to confirm this. I am not the homeowner so I certainly was not going to authorize anything. In my experience, when a HVAC technician found a hazardous furnace they turned off the gas supply and locked it, but Aksarben had me sign a “breached heat exchanger acknowledgment” form. They said they would send someone out when she got home and agreed to come back at 5:00. I had used Complete Comfort in Ralston in the past and decided to get a second opinion. I wasn't going to tell them it had been looked at and removed the warning tag. The homeowner was home by this time and told them Aksarben had been out. He immediately asked, “Did they tell you the heat exchanger was bad?” Jalen looked it over and said the heat exchanger was in “good condition”, cleaned a dirty flame sensor and recommended using less-restrictive air filters. The unit has worked fine since. The homeowner called Michael and cancelled the appointment. Incredibly, he claimed that he had no way to contact them (because this must be the only person in this business who doesn't have a cell phone). They were told that no one would be home. He miraculously got ahold of them since they did not show up. I posted on nextdoor.com about getting a second opinion and only one company was explicitly named- Aksarben ARS. Here are some of the comments after one day on line: “I’ve had a conversation with XXXX XXXX who is in this nextdoor group. I would give him a try. He confirmed that Aksarben ARS has a reputation for this sort of thing.” “Agree always get a second opinion, and if you don't feel comfortable get a third. I know aksarben for a fact pushes for the SALE. They were pushing for $800.00 temp repair then $1800.00 repair within a year, leading to a $4500.00 replacement. Called XXXXXXXX, over the phone they diagnosed the situation and said nothing was wrong, did have them come out just to check it out and clean it, they found a circuit unplugged (recently) they plugged it in cleaned it all up(aksarben charged for cleaning it just week before). Was on aksarben's SERVICE plan too! XXXXXXXX charges=$108.00 Sorry little biased here. All in all YES always get a second opinion!” “Aksarben is the worst” “some HVAC are dishonest, some techs not intelligent enough to diagnose properly. Get a second opinion. Heard good about XXXXXXX. Also an independent person I know, XXX at XXX-XXX-XXXX has helped me personally and some of my clients. Early Last summer Aksarben told a couple they needed to replace the AC. XXX came by and made a $130.00 repair. The Ac worked fine all thruout the season.” “Also had a bad experience with Aksarben. Will not use them again.”

I called at 5am for emergency service. Called again at 11am to see how much longer it was going to be before they showed up. They could not find a record of my appointment. Said they would have to work me in. Serviceman showed up at 5pm. Tried to sell me a complete new unit. Said circuit board, sensor, igniter and blower motor were going bad. Igniter was bad. Charged $224.00 for a new igniter. I’m guessing that is a absurd price for the igniter. Unit has worked fine ever since. I’m guessing that the sensor should have been cleaned at the same time. I will not use this company again

Aksarben suspected a leak in the unit, but instead of letting me make the choice of what direction I needed to go, the technician added 2lbs of Freon to a broken system and charged me for it. After the fact, he offered a leak test but I would have had to pay $300 for it. I refused the test. A competitor came the next day and performed the same test for free. In addition, Aksarben charged me another almost $300 for a product called Perform Renew that was supposed to unclog the closed circuit line. Later that night our house had no airflow as the coil had frozen. Bottom line, Aksarben was more concerned about selling parts and services than the well being of a working system and the finances of the customer.

Not good they just did a tune up on the AC and didn't do any of the rest of the work and they didn't show me a report of their findings of testing the output of the system. They were just trying to pressure me into buying a new AC as my system was over 15 years old and the systems don't last that long. I will never do business with them again. I want my $270 back so I can find someone that doesn't suck. They performed one item on the list and tried to screw me over to get me to get a new system. They also jacked up the prices of things that I knew needed replaced to the tune of 25 percent more. The prices on their new systems is 3 times the competition.

I pay monthly. The quality was good, but I had a bad encounter with them. Only one person came out to do the job and it took him about an hour-and-a-half. They just usually check the usual stuff and then, they try to sell a lot of stuff to me that I did not like.

I've usually had a good experiences with them. I just call and they come out. I wouldn't hire them for plumbing. I had them give me a diagnostic check on my heating and air system. I told them I am getting a second estimate because I thought it was too high for a system that was 10 years old. I wanted them to do some work with my kitchen sink, the plumber said they don't do wholes in the sink for my water system. I asked to speak to the supervisor because it make on sense that a plumber wouldn't do a plumbing job. They did refund my the service call and apologized.

He convinced me to buy the $20 cap for the rest of the system also. He quoted $300 for the kick start and $240 for the other cap for the rest of the system. The pricing he gave lacked the distinction between part price or hourly price or whatever business overhead price. It was just a single price listed by part but not representing the parts price. I asked why it was so high, he said he doesn't set them. He arrived between 4pm and 7pm (@ 6:35pm) and marked on the sheet 6pm and finished around 7:30pm with no signout time on the sheet copy he gave me. So he chatted with me a bit while doing the work and he was a nice person and checked his work when finished before leaving. The kickstart cap was visually toasted as seen in the picture. The other capacitor seen in the picture was perfectly fine looking but he told me I should do it so I did...while feeling bad about the decision give how easily I could have done it if I wasn't such a wimp. But it was my first time doing this so I let him. As for rating this service. Their pricing is not broken down. He literally wrote down a price. Is there haggle room? I don't know, what is this some third world country? So his price seemed like maybe he personally could have been ripping me off. My friend told me to run for my life. But I agreed to do it anyway. Much to my dismay and feelings during the time of not wanting to, I am a wimp. I blame my parents and myself. That being said. Deceptive pricing, over priced work and lame excuses for why. This guy could have been paid $100 an hour + $60 in parts and give $160 to the company and then they still charged twice that. And I know this guy didn't get paid $100 for that job. Which means the company raked in like $400 and likely more than that. That's a very inefficient business. I honestly believe they should go out of business and these employee's should go work for someone else. This business needs to fail so someone more efficient and less wasteful and take my money. I feel like I just got ripped off big time. Next time I'm going to be less of a wimp and kick them out of my house. This was a learning experience for me and I hope my review helps you. See the images attached for what parts were in my AC before he got there and the burned kickstart cap that got jolted by the storm the night before. Also a picture of the work area with the tech whited out. Decent guy, but this company should go under. Stop giving these theives your money and stop giving them your employment. Seriously I would feel a lot better just giving that guy $400 then paying this company $640. And I'm sure the employee would have been VERY happy with that. Especially if he's staying so busy as to arrive in the nick of time before the end of his window. I rate overall deceptive - F Price was deceptive and a lie - F Quality of the business is ineffcient with funds and time - F Responsive - C, decent. Punctuality - C, decent but only average at best.
