"Owners were exceptionally responsive and came right out for an estimate due to my very tight timeframe (I was calling on a Friday for a Monday service). Their estimate was higher than I expected (12-13 hrs @ $34/hr), but I had a very small window to get the work done, so I went ahead with them. And both the owner and I thought it may take all that time.

The crew ended up spending 2.5 hrs more than the estimate (total $527 + tax). Overall, the work was fine. The carpets were thoroughly vacuumed and looked especially nice. I did have some issues with the quality of some of the work (table looked to have been wiped but not cleaned in crevices; glasstop cook stove was wiped off but not cleaned thoroughly; biggest issue was fine dust all over the master bedroom and closet that wasn't there before -- they later told me they thought it was soap residue from using steel wool on the shower; one doorframe wasn't cleaned on the inside; a couple wall art pieces weren't dusted properly).

I took pictures and emailed them to the owners. They offered to come back out and make the job right, but in the interest of time, I went ahead and did those things myself. They ended up crediting me the additional 2.5 hrs, taking off $85, which I appreciated as a gesture of positive customer service. So, overall, it was fine, and they definitely wanted to make the job right.

The reason I won't likely use them again is just the cost. But they were the only crew that called me back promptly and was able to get me in on such short notice, and they were very professional. If you are looking for someone in a pinch, they may be the perfect ones for you."

"That carpet cleaning turned out okay. They did the carpets in my living room, hallways and stairs. There were some stains that I wanted them to get out, but we didn’t have much hope for those stains to begin with. Two employees came out and it didn’t take them very long."

"It went well. We had an issue with their equipment breaking down and when they left, they left a big spot on the carpet where the solution had spilled but they came back right away and fixed it within like 24 hours. So that was okay. Just one person came out to do this job. I would say it was average. I don't think that they spent a lot of time on the carpet. To be quite honest, it felt like they were kind of there and gone considering how much there was to do. I was not impressed with how deep the cleaning was. I did most of the moving and I know they don't do a lot of it but they didn't go out of their way to make any extra effort. Even if it was just moving a table a few feet, they would just maybe do under it but they wouldn't actually move it. There was something there by one of the chairs that would have come out with some steam cleaning and a a little bit of solution pretty easily and it didn't come out when they cleaned it. Until I had to do it after they left and it came right out so I don't think the cleaning was especially high quality."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

The first step in budgeting for carpet is to determine the amount of carpet you need and the type of carpet you want. You might be tempted to opt for the least expensive option if you have a limited budget, but a low-quality carpet won’t last as long as a high-quality one. When accounting for future carpet repair costs, it makes sense to buy the best-quality carpet you can afford.

What a buyer prefers usually depends on the home’s layout and which material fits the current aesthetic. The local real estate market can also dictate these desires to some extent, as do the buyer’s personal preferences. With that said, laminate can increase the resale value of a home by a tiny bit, whereas carpet does not. Hardwood increases the resale value by the highest amount.

A 65-oz. carpet is good, and in many cases, it indicates a premium carpet. Most carpets for homes should fall in the range of 40 to 60 ounces for face weight. If a carpet has a 65-oz. face weight, it is likely more durable and long-lasting than a similar carpet with a lower face weight. Carpet face weight is just one factor in determining a carpet’s quality.

Acclimating laminate flooring cannot be rushed. Laminate flooring needs at least 48 hours to acclimate properly to its new environment, and being patient during this time can make installation go smoother because you will not be dealing with boards that have expanded or contracted during the shipping process. You will also be less likely to damage the boards during installation.

The best underlayment for carpet on concrete is a sponge rubber underlayment. This type of carpet padding is durable enough to endure wear and tear on hard concrete yet soft enough to provide comfort underfoot. It also creates insulation from sound and temperature, providing warmth despite the concrete’s cold surface.
