Customers say: True professional

"I want to preface this review by sharing that I have never done an online review for any contractor and there was no financial benefit to me for writing this review. Simply put, Christian with CW Plumbing is a top notch, qualified, experienced, professional, and reasonable plumber. My water heater started leaking over the weekend so I called a large regional company for an emergency service call over the weekend. The tech looked at my water heater, said it needed to be replaced and wrote up four unreasonable quotes and asked which one I wanted to select. I got CW Plumbing information from a family member, called Christian on a Sunday afternoon and he diagnosed the issue and provided recommendations. He took the approach of talking through what my needs were for the repair by discussing benefits and costs of each repair option and talked me into the best value option for my situation. He was looking for ways to save me money rather than ways for him to make money and recommending what he would do in his house. He came over the next morning and installed the new water heater within a few hours. I highly recommend CW Plumbing."

"Overall was fine. System seems to work good. I did not appreciate having to fill out background check paperwork to lease a water softener. They said, it is just the paperwork we use to check your credit. We signed a lease for 6 months and plan to purchase the system."

"I received multiple quotes from Omaha water softener and plumbing businesses to install my own water softener or to have them install their own water softener. If I provided my own softener, companies were quoting me $1500-$1700 to complete the install. Convenient Water Treatment quoted me $450 for the install but the price of their water softener was the same price as the one I was looking at and came with their warranty. I went with their softener and installation for cheaper than the labor other companies were looking to charge. Also they use Clack valves which are well known for their reliability. Thanks again!"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

Yes, you can have both a water softener and a water filter. In fact, some manufacturers sell dual water softening and filtration systems that treat hard water and provide clean drinking water. If you’re unsure about what you need or want to discuss your options, reach out to a local water softener installation company.

Most experts agree there’s not much difference health-wise between hard water versus soft water. That said, hard water is more likely to cause skin dryness and issues that go along with it, like an itchy or flaky scalp. Hard water can also decrease the life span of your household appliances and make it more difficult for soap to do its job.

Soft water is better for your hair. The minerals in hard water can dry out hair, make it brittle, and leave a film on the hair and scalp that may cause irritation. Hard water also doesn't rinse out shampoo and conditioner effectively, which can lead to product buildup that makes hair look dull and limp. You may also find you need to use more shampoo to get a good lather in hard water.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.
