"Iâ ve been a General Contractor in the Triangle for 31 years. I knew the first time we spoke on the phone about replacing my pump on my fountain that Jeff was a professional. Jeff is a very good communicator and was on time. Jeff installed a perfect sized pump for my fountain and it has never worked better! I would highly recommend Jeff and his Company to everyone! Mark"

"VERY happy with Jacob who came to service our fountain pump and took the time to answer all my questions and educate me, give recommendations on winterization & increase my confidence in maintaining the fountain myself in the future (although I'm probably going to call him to do it!) He is very friendly and knowledgeable while being attentive to detail, demonstrating high quality of work (and I'm a stickler) all with fair pricing, too. Thank you, Jacob, I won't hesitate to call you again."

"They were very professional and showed up on time. They gave me a clear estimate of the cost of the job. The explained to me and clear detail what needed to be done. Once the job is completed, they gave me the details of how to care for the Pond and the fish. They went above and beyond my expectations. I will highly recommend them for your outdoor water and Pond needs."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants.

  • These stones can get hot and scorch nearby plants.

  • River stones may heat the surrounding soil to inhospitable temperatures.

  • Rocks can block rainwater from seeping into the ground if installations are too thick or tightly packed.

Most downsides occur when using river rock as mulch in gardens and flower beds. However, you can still incorporate river rocks into your landscape as long as you use them in the correct ways.

In short, yes, a pond can add to your home’s value. However, whether it adds value will depend on the condition and aesthetic of your pond. Having this feature already built into a yard’s home can be appealing to homebuyers who value its aesthetic and would prefer not to build it themselves. But if it is not kept in good condition, it could turn buyers away.

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

The average pond maintenance cost is $2,000. But how much you pay to take care of your pond depends on multiple factors, such as the size of the pond and whether fish live in it. Your area's climate also affects the overall maintenance cost, as you may need to winterize your pond to protect it and any aquatic life in it during the colder months.

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.
