Family owned & operated. Offering affordable, quality and personal service. Serving the Triangle & surrounding areas. We do all of our own work, we hire no subcontractors. Award winning

"On 5/2016, the company installed a new HVAC system at our home for $6850. On 8/2017, the AC unit stopped cooling and was found to be low on refrigerant. Leak suspected in line set, but not detected. Charged $365 for recharge and service visit. On 9/2017, they injected "leak stop" compound into system and charged $322. On 5/2019, the unit had stopped cooling again and was found to be low on refrigerant. They injected dye in the system and still couldn't find leak. Charged $102. On 8/2019, I finally noticed a disintegrating insulation foam and greasy liquid on the outside of the line set just as it exited the compressor unit and was suspicious that this was the location of the leak. I called them to repair. Indeed, that was the site of the leak that they seemed unable to locate previously. Charged $136 for the visit. Seems to me like they were responsible for faulty installation since the leak turned out to be right at the joint between the compressor and the line set. I could have saved ~$900 had they installed the unit correctly to start. A bit disappointing--I would have at least thought that they would not charge for the final visit where it was determined that the leak was from an installation point. When I reviewed the story with Tim, a manager, he listened, but did nothing to indicate that he accepted responsibility for a faulty installation."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Even if you invested in the cost of a gas shut-off valve for your oven and other appliances, it’s a good idea to add a seismic shut-off valve as an extra safety measure.

Gas shut-off valves for appliances are manual, meaning someone has to cut off the flow of gas. This leaves room for error, as you might not be home or might be too distracted to think about gas lines during an earthquake. An earthquake valve is automatic and will protect your home from gas-related disasters in the event of an earthquake.

You can maneuver your gas grill into place, but you cannot connect the grill to your gas source yourself. All municipalities mandate that a certified plumber carry out this work, so you’ll have to reach out to a plumber or a gas grill installation company in your area. Given how dangerous a gas leak can be, gas lines and connections are highly regulated, so you’ll need a professional’s help and a permit to install a gas grill.

No, Teflon tape will not stop a gas leak. In fact, no type of tape is the solution to a gas pipe leak. If you suspect a leak, turn off your home’s gas supply and contact a pro or your utility immediately. Teflon tape is only for preventing leaks during pipe installation, not for repairing existing leaks.

Safety concerns with propane boilers include proper venting to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, secure gas line connections, and regular inspection of safety controls. Professional boiler installation and annual maintenance are essential to minimize risks. Having a carbon monoxide detector installed in your home is essential for early detection of any leaks or ventilation issues.

You can and should vent the gas from your hot water heater to the outside of your home. Traditionally, these gases were vented back to other gas appliances, like stoves or furnaces, but many jurisdictions have outlawed this practice due to the risks it provides.

Most water heaters today use atmospheric venting that exhausts the gas out of the home through a pipe.
