"I had an old tub with ceramic tile. They removed that and the flooring and existing vanity and toilet. I had a new wall shower system installed with sliding glass doors and shelving. It is absolutely beautiful and so functional. They were very professional efficient and cleaned up everything. They also installed new ceramic tile and a new vanity. I would highly recommend them."

"We had originally thought a new tub/shower combo would be fine, but the longer I thought about it I realized I needed a walk in shower I called customer service to change the order. Even though it was past the time for changes the agent, Dylan was able to make it happen for us. I was elated! the service from sales, Mort, to customer service, to the insaller David M and his team mate was great. The job was completed in 1 day and the clean up was really good too. David communicated very well on the day of install. Very impressed and will recommend this company if asked who did our work."

"After consulting Angie’s List, we chose Tartaglia Renovations to work on our two bathrooms upstairs and the half-bathroom downstairs. We had planned to do only one bathroom and the half-bathroom. But after we saw how transformative the work looked, we committed to the other bathroom at once. The more time we spent with them, the more we were convinced we were in good hands. The work cost $19,730 total. Here’s how the jobs broke down: Bathroom 1 – The room was demolished to the studs and subflooring. The crew replaced the floor with new tile, installed a tub where a shower had been (a tight squeeze achieved with careful planning), replumbed what had been a center shower drain into a drain at the end of the tub, hung tile in the bath, installed two niches, installed a shower head with a handheld attachment, installed a new toilet and vanity and new fixtures, put down new floor moulding and painted the room. Bathroom 2 – The plan was to install a new tiled floor, new toilet and new floor moulding, then tear off the wallpaper and paint the room and the old vanity. Everything went well except for the wallpaper, which a previous DIY owner had attached in such a way that removing it began to tear chunks out of the wall. The solution? Put a coat of mud all over the walls, bury the wallpaper completely, then paint over the new surface. You wouldn’t know it was there. Half-bathroom – A simple job of tiling, installing a new toilet and floor moulding, and painting. Everything went according to plan and more or less according to schedule; the jobs were finished within one day of the predicted conclusion. The husband-and-wife team of Matt and Britney Tartaglia did the demolitions themselves and called upon plumbers, a painter and a tiler (and the tiler’s assistant for the big job). They let us know when each of the subcontractors would be coming and responded by the end of the day each time we texted a question. Two things stood out for us. The first was attention to details, from the clear way the Tartaglias broke down the estimates (and amended them as unexpected things happened) to the careful cleanup of the rooms afterward. They explained why things didn’t work, on the occasions they didn’t, and found solutions. Second, they were friendly. They listened attentively to our concerns, stayed in good humor and were welcome visitors in the house. The same can be said of the tiler, Noel Santos, and the painter, Claudiu Culda. We would hire Tartaglia Renovations again for any significant changes to our house, and we wouldn’t need to look at other contractors."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The impact of a walk-in tub on home value depends on various factors, including market demand, demographic preferences, and overall home features. While some buyers may view it as a desirable accessibility feature, others might see it as a niche amenity, potentially limiting the pool of interested buyers. However, it could add value if the walk-in tub meets specific needs or enhances the property's appeal to a target demographic. Ultimately, its effect on home value varies case by case, with factors like installation quality, design, and neighborhood trends playing roles in determining its impact.

Yes, you can remove a bathtub yourself if you have previous DIY experience and basic plumbing knowledge. You should have at least one other person help you if you approach this project as a DIY. However, hiring a plumber or bathroom remodeling pro can prevent accidental damage from demolition or water leakage.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

Yes, a bathroom remodel is a worthwhile home improvement project that typically adds value to your home, offering a return on investment (ROI) between 60% and 70%. Potential buyers look closely at bathrooms and kitchens, as these are often the most expensive rooms to renovate. A modern, updated bathroom is more appealing and assures buyers that the plumbing, fixtures, and flooring have a long, useful life ahead. Beyond the financial return, a remodel can also greatly increase your day-to-day satisfaction by creating a more inviting, spa-like space. Even a basic refresh with new paint and accessories can make a significant difference.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.
