"Mike Smith, The Mold Hunter, Inc., was an extremely easy and professional mold remediation company to work with. Mike was prompt with communications throughout the process, answered all our questions and gave detailed explanations of what was going to be done from testing to remediation, and he provided a detailed and accurate estimate of the cost. His employees were very thorough, competent, and respectful of our property. Mike even gave suggestions as to how we could do some preparation ourselves in order to save money. What more could you ask? We highly recommend Mike for testing and mold remediation."

"On January 9, 2024, we experienced what we now know was a 25-year rain. Unfortunately, our entire basement flooded with rising waters at a rate we could not control. Water entry began at approximately 2 pm. We were unhinged! Once we realized we were handcuffed to the situation, we started processing, “How are we getting this water out of here?” After several phone calls and a Facebook post, one of our sweet friends mentioned United Water Restoration Group. The owner was a patient of hers, and she highly recommended his company. I called immediately, and Rob answered. In less than two hours, he and his team arrived at our home and instantly started extracting the water. They lifted our furniture onto protective footings, rolled up rugs, immediately brought in ten drying fans, and three industrial-sized dehumidifiers. They did it with the utmost care and efficiency. The entire team was amazingly professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. Equipment was clean and powerful. It took more than a week to dry out. Every single day, someone from their team either called or stopped by to check on the progress. I can honestly say, our story would have had a much different result had it not been for this company’s promptness and attention to detail. We are entirely grateful that water was only an issue for a matter of a few hours - thanks to this fantastic company. We cannot sing their praises enough - they are saved as FAVORITES in our phone so that we can recommend them the same way it was paid forward to us! Thank you, Rob, Cindy, Jesse, and the entire team. The Vinings are forever grateful!"

"They replaced several sheets of plywood and also reshingled the entire roof. It was also necessary to replace and repaint the back siding of the building. Jose and his partner did an outstanding job in repairing our shed. We would highly recommend Honeycutts Painting and Roofing to those who request a recommendation for this type of work."

"My house had been infested with mold for countless years, I hadn’t the money to hire anyone. My friend’s family had just started their business recently and told me they would do the job for cheaper so I asked; they did. They were quick and respectful—in and out—and made sure to not shirk an inch of the property. I’m grateful to them I can finally breath freely in my house without worry of inhaling toxic materials. While they were there one of their workers, Juan, noticed a leak of sewage in the basement. He spent the rest of his available time to dry out the sewage and properly clear the leak. Now I might be a bit biased, but, I would highly recommend hiring them and if I have another issue with mold (MAKE SURE TO TEST REGULARLY PEOPLE!!) I’ll call on them."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on test type, home size, number of testing locations, and whether follow-up testing is required.

Iron sediments from rusty pipes are not likely to cause health problems. While a glass of yellow-hued water is off-putting, it is generally safe to drink yellow water in the short term. But you certainly want to address this problem. In the meantime, switching to bottled water until the yellow water issue is resolved is a good idea.

While the EPA provides guidelines for homeowners to perform DIY lead paint removal, it is a risky process and generally not recommended due to serious health risks and strict regulatory requirements. The process requires precise safety precautions, such as wearing a respirator and protective eyeglasses, creating sealed exits, and using a HEPA vacuum for cleanup. To ensure the job is done safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations, it is highly recommended to hire a professional lead abatement company. Certified professionals have the necessary training, experience, and specialized equipment (like chemical strippers and HEPA vacuums) to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

A lead paint inspection is a thorough examination and assessment of a building or structure to determine the presence of lead-based paint. Lead-based paint was commonly used in buildings before 1978 when its health hazards were fully understood. Lead is toxic and can pose health risks, particularly to young children and pregnant women. Getting a lead paint inspection means finding a lead paint inspector to examine the surfaces of the building—such as walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other painted areas—and identify the presence of lead-based paint.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?
