Customers say: Super punctual

"Kevin's team did a great job on my landscape project. They were punctual, professional and were easy to work with. Kevin came out to the jobsite and did a great job in mapping out my project. When his team came to work, they were very friendly, wasted no time and I ended up with a fantastic yard."

"I have hired different landscaping services and can say that Carolinaâ s Landscaping is by far the best. They are punctual, hardworking, courteous, and know what they are doing. They mow my lawn weekly, trim all shrubs and hedges as needed, saw limbs that have fallen from huge trees, perform fall leaf removal, and they do it all for a good price and a happy attitude. This is a great company with excellent service."

"Jeff Kale and his crew were great to work with. We had 24 trees and plants, beds and mulch done in our backyard. The trees are vibrant and healthy, beautiful. The crew did a great job. We are definitely going with Jeff Kale for our front yard landscaping next year."

"Mr. Snyder and his son were great to work with. I scheduled an on-site lighting demonstration and was highly impressed at his ability to accentuate certain aspects of the home with temporary setups. I immediately made the decision to have the work done. He provided everything I needed to gain approval from my HOA and that was a big help! The time and level of detail he puts into his jobs is wonderful. I would highly recommend anyone looking for landscape lighting to utilize his services.

"Jose did an installation of my irrigation system and also fine tuned the sprinkler heads. He was reasonably priced and did a great job. After a few weeks, I had to fine tune the sprinkler heads. He initially assisted me over the phone and also visited the house next day to do the tuning. I’d confidently recommend Jose to others who are in need of the landscaping services."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

As much as you might try to keep a healthy, nutrient-rich lawn, you still may notice signs of St. Augustine decline (SAD)—a viral disease that discolors your grass blades. St. Augustine decline looks like:

  • Discoloration in the leaves (chlorosis)—leaves appear yellow and splotchy

  • Decline in growth

  • Leaves turn black within 3 years

  • Grass appears less vibrant

  • Grass begins to thin

  • Root rot

  • Grass takes longer to recover

It is possible to DIY complete hardscaping projects, but in most cases, hiring a professional is best to get the job done correctly. Hardscaping—including installing patios, decks, retaining walls, walkways, and water features—is challenging and time-consuming, so the money you spend on a professional is typically worth it. Not only will the quality be better, but you could avoid problems that come along with a lack of hardscaping experience, like drainage issues that can lead to costly foundation damage and leaks in your home.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

Unless it only rains once in a blue moon where you live, you’re going to want water-loving plants in your garden bed or pot. A few ideas for plants that aren’t super fast-growing (meaning they’re good in pots or near foundations) and can handle a lot of standing water include:

  • Acorus (Sweet flag)

  • Colocasia esculenta (Taro or elephant ear): In many climates, these are annuals, making them less desirable because you need to adjust the chain again after each replant.

  • Equisetum scirpoides (Dwarf horsetail rush): non-dwarf varieties of horsetail are fast growers and can take over quickly.

  • Juncus effusus (Curly rush)

  • Osmunda regalis (Royal fern): Royal fern can grow quickly but can also handle being crowded, making them good container plants.

How much 4 yards of dirt will cover depends on how deep you want the soil to be. In general, a yard of dirt will cover 324 square feet for a 1-inch depth or 100 square feet for a 3-inch depth. Therefore, you can expect 4 yards to cover between 400 and 1,296 square feet if you keep your soil depth between 1 and 3 inches.
