Customers say: Quality work

"Andrey very promptly responded to my inquiry for an electrician to install a new light switch. He was able to come out to my house later that week to do the job. Andrey was very prompt and got right to work. He's very personable, and quick to get the job done - it took about an hour, and I paid what I felt was a reasonable price. I was very satisfied with the work he did, and will definitely hire him again."

"I normally don't write reviews but I have to compliment the service and professionalism that I received from Brian, Roger and Ryan. I had a series of LED and pendant lights installed in my kitchen along with a chandelier in my breakfast area and dining rooms. I also had a ceiling fan installed in my family room. The price was extremely reasonable and the job was completed in a timely and satisfactory manner. I would encourage anyone who has electrical problems or work to be done to contact Copper Electric. You won't be disappointed."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

If you’re wondering if you can use your electric vehicle as a backup battery, it depends on whether your EV is compatible with bidirectional charging. This technology allows energy to flow both ways, enabling vehicle-to-home (V2H) backup power, vehicle-to-load (V2L) for appliances and camping, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) to support the power grid. Compatible EVs convert stored DC energy into usable AC power, helping reduce energy costs and enhance grid stability while providing emergency backup power.

If you’re wondering whether gas generators produce carbon monoxide, know that natural gas generators do not produce carbon monoxide if they are functioning properly, as natural gas burns cleanly. However, if the generator malfunctions and the gas does not burn completely, there is potential for carbon dioxide to be produced. To prevent malfunctions, it's crucial to perform regular maintenance, including running the generator weekly and scheduling professional inspections every 6 to 12 months. Also, be sure to test your carbon monoxide detectors regularly to ensure they function in the rare case of the generator producing carbon monoxide.

Yes, in some locations, it is required by the National Electric Code (NEC) to have a transfer switch installed for electrical emergencies. In addition to following electrical code, generator transfer switches ensure your home is fully protected during a power outage. By switching the power from the main breaker to the generator breaker, you can seamlessly operate your HVAC, lights, appliances, devices, and more during an emergency.

As a safety measure, you should always turn off the main breaker while operating your generator’s backup breaker. In addition, you should also switch off all appliance breakers so you don't have a power surge when the main breaker turns back on. And finally, turning off the main breaker prevents back-feeding, which endangers utility workers with the risk of electrocution. Back-feeding could also destroy the electrical circuits of your neighbors if they use the same power network.

These advanced generators use a key fob or a smartphone app to remotely start, which is ideal for getting power back on immediately without venturing outside. This feature is more common on whole home generators, but you may be able to find it on large portable generators, too.
